Bathtub swan was better, and I enjoyed that his suicide tape had so many camera angles in his bathroom. Not too thought out though, since in theory he wouldn't be around to edit that footage together. Guess it worked out for him though.

I watched this late last night after like three glasses of wine and spent like five minutes wondering if the main character was a really young Judge Reinhold behind those huge coke bottle glasses. Then I remembered this was shot in the 70s.

If she does the voice over for the Simple Mobile commercial. Unresolved. Its hard to look up.

Last night my friend and I looked up Nina Dobrev to settle an argument (my life is exciting guys) and what do I see first on her filmography?! Edit - I'm having the hardest time uploading the screen shot, but it says she was "Teenage Zydrate Addict"

The Oh Hello special is on Netflix today! I've been really excited for it even though I saw it when it came through Chicago. But they didn't have Steve Martin or Michael J Fox as their guest then - just some guy from the audience they kept calling a jabroni.

If the movie had ended with Guy just convincing Faye to stay in LA, and then the end 'where are they now" said they were married, I would have been completely fine. I wasn't waiting for them to get together all movie or wanting them to kiss. Not that I was upset about it, but still. I also don't think she's really thinking about Guy romantically until he kisses her, she seemed pretty surprised by the kiss in general. When she cut up that picture, I thought "Jimmy probably would love to have the part she snipped off showing him working hard on his music"

Wasn't Wolfman just a bass player who worked for Playtone? And goes by Wolfman at the studio in general? I just assumed it was his stage name for everything and he was planning on joining the band full time after this since he was at the studio to record when Jimmy quit. Also, I watched this with CC and when he's introduced by playing his bass, it just said "Plays Cool Bass Riff" (or something like that, I'm at work so I might be paraphrasing(also I clearly don't work very hard)). Made me laugh. Speaking of the tv show, why is Lenny called Leo? I know is real name is Leonard or something, but he's never once gone by Leo. Seems like a weird jump. Do they just have something against names ending in y?

I actually might like Dance With Me Tonight even MORE. My one complaint about the movie is that if Jimmy wrote that song, then he's right, they should have recorded it and put it out right away.

I am terrible at ages, and could not figure out how old people were in this movie. I thought they were college aged - I thought either Jimmy or Lenny went to whatever college they perform at, but Guy works instead of college and TB Player is entering the service - until later when Guy tells Del that he was stationed in Germany and I think references attending college at some point. And someone mentioned that Ethan Embry was 17 so maybe he just graduated high school?! I don't know. I have no idea how old anyone is suppose to be. (This is generally true in real life too)

I loved him. His reaction the original drummer falling over, his screaming when Faye pushing him against the wall, when he dropped his bass while jumping up and down, his small smile when Mr White told him 'semper fi'. He was adorable. Both Ethan Embry and Steve Zahn both did a lot with their smaller parts. Other small moment I loved (which this movie is full of!) - When Lenny asked Jimmy for money and he told him to ask Guy - and Guy immediately gave it to him, no questions asked. The whole 'go ask if you can see the cockpit' exchange. Tina's glee at getting a crown replaced. Faye counting money and really really focused on that money. The mom yelling she couldn't hear the music while watching the live taping - even though no one else was talking. Only real complaint - I do not understand the "I am Spartacus" that Guy keeps saying, though I really appreciated Lenny's confused reaction when Guy said it to him at the live taping. Edited to add on - When he speeds up the tempo, I liked that the other band members just keep playing it at the original tempo until like halfway through the song. I do find Jimmy unlikable, but I agree that its crazy that all the record people kept approaching and negotiating with Guy. Maybe he was just easier to find originally (since he worked in the store where he was selling the albums?) and just realized he's the most reasonable of the group? It'd be pretty hard to negotiate with Jimmy I'd imagine.

It does make me happy to think of how he likely had to grovel to get back in Playtone's good graces. He really tried to burn all of his bridges there, he must have really had to suck up to get back to record with them. I'm pretty sure Mr. White only liked Guy and Faye out of the whole group, so when Jimmy screwed both of them over, he was dead to him. How do we all feel about Jimmy and Diane Dane - they totally slept together, right?

Omg, while watching it I kept thinking 'this is like the mouse version of Serendipity'. It drove me crazy.

I like that the Playtone brand covers film, TV, music and typewriters.

He's great with technology.

He wrote both Larry Crowne and That Thing You Do as well, so apparently he only directs things he writes. I don't mean that as a criticism. I love him.

Because of the way the movie ends, for a long time as a kid I thought it was a true story. It was a few years til I realized it was all made up.

I did hesitate before I typed it out because i can't remember if there are many other songs beside "That Thing You Do". But the soundtrack has a lot of original songs on it so I'm hoping it's musical enough. But it was catogized as musical at the library so I figure that was enough authority!

I saw it on Starz which I think is the theatrical version but I'd love to find the director cut!

I was in Cleveland visiting family over the long weekend, so just driving back home to Chicago! Usually not the best idea to post and drive though
