My main complaint with this movie is they kept referring to Elvis' job as 'tourist guide'.

I enjoy Elvis’ hits so I’d say I’m more of a casual fan. As for the Beatles, my dad was HUGE fan and it kinda killed them for me a bit.

I am super excited to see this - I've had to miss the last few weeks due to being slammed at work and on a long trip. To come back to Geostorm and Elvis, its pretty great.

I was thrilled to find this movie on my long flight yesterday! And I am very glad I didn't listen to the podcast til this morning so I didn't hear all the airline horror stories. It was a 11 hour flight, I would have been tortured. Like Jason, the second Ed Harris showed up I realized he was the bad guy, and I was really rooting to Secret Service girlfriend to be in cahoots with him. It wasn't until she agreed to kidnap the president that I gave up that hope, which I know was way too far into the movie. Also, did the president propose to her for the brother? I don't think he ever proposed, she just started referring to herself as his fiance? I am not great with science stuff, but I was confused with the idea that the impending Geostorm would suddenly end when the weather satellites would be shut down. Wouldn't the weather still be occurring even if the satellite got turned off and on again? I know it started the heat wave or the tsunami or whatever, but wouldn't it take a ton of effort to stop weather that's actually happening? I felt like the storms ended very suddenly.

I remember one they used in studio but they started doing a lot more live shows that I assumed had used the old rap one and just stuck with that instead

You've brought up a ton of interesting points that I agree with, but I wanted to say that DJay specifically lost me when he evicted the toddler. I think I would have been at least willing to root for him if I wasn't worried about a baby he clearly cared for (the piano scene was cute!). His scenes with the other two women in his life weren't heartwarming per say but were at least something I could understand and see as everyone making an effort to do better, regardless of how small steps they were. I personally have a very hard time with the anti-hero story. I want to root for people to do better, but when they start self-sabotaging and everyone around them is equally as awful, I have a difficult time watching. I'm a sucker, I want the happy ending! I also feel bad for the guy clearly trying when everyone is shitting on him, and then he just gives into their assumptions. ooooh what about....

She is my favorite part of this movie. I loved her interpretation of a business outfit at the end.

I had a hard time with the actual pimping of it all, but that might just be willful ignorance on my part. I got the whole wanting to rise above his station and using music to get there. I got the drug dealing situation. I did not understand why one prostitute, one stripper (who I also assume was a prostitute, we just never saw her in action) and one pregnant prostitute were living with him (I guess to save money?). Is that a normal set up? The entire storyline of a belligerent stripper with a one year old didn't make any sense. What was her end goal? To be evicted? I do like a lot of the people in the movie. DJ Qualls, Taryn and Taraji were all great. I always want more Ludacris. But I suppose I'm alone in that.

I have a bunch of thoughts, but my main question is how do you cast Ludacris as a rapper/hip hop artist and not have him perform? Did I miss something? I will admit, my attention wasn't full on the whole time.

I actually went and saw it last night! I agree that if you going in knowing PT is a garbage human, then its a little weird when he starts getting super selfish and causing problems. Like "oh HERE'S where they reveal he's awful"(spoiler alert, they don't do that). But if you pretend its about a rando starting a circus, its actually pretty fun. The music is good and I loved the choreography of the big numbers. I wouldn't recommend it unless I knew the person liked musicals, but still fun to see.

The only thing I know about D&D is how to make my friends annoyed with me when asking about it. I have a group of friends that play once a week that I call Nerd Party (which they started calling it themselves after a few months). I enjoy asking "Who's winning" when they discuss it in front of me. Anyway the 16th works for me!
