ooh I've never actually seen one of her films. Excited for this!

Oh I'm one of those people that always has way too many commitments because I can't say no to things This is how I accidentally became Vice President on a community theatre board. But I've been loving using the musicals as downtime! I never really watch the HDTGM picks, so this is a nice thing to get to seek out that I'm more likely to enjoy.

I hope I can actually watch this one! Life has been hectic recently and I felt like I missed the boat on the last one. By the time I had time to watch it, it was this Saturday.

I never saw IF, but in the Defenders, it seemed liked as soon as he was paired with Matt, Jessica or Luke, he turned into a little kid that just wanted to hang out with the big kids. Not necessarily goofy but trying too hard and having a good time with his new buddies- and when they weren't around to call him on how crazy his weird mystical stuff sounded, he was still trying too hard but there was nothing to undercut it. I can't imagine a whole season of his monologues and being morose. I'm just saying this series convinced me I don't need to watch IF. But I may watch a 2nd season if the showrunners learned anything from this.

My parents aren't big movie people, they're more a fan of tv. My dad has honestly asked why I rewatch movies before instead of new ones. My dad likes dumb actions, my mom is a fan of the Oscar contenders and they both enjoy dry comedies. As kids we had a VHS copy of Monty Python in our car for our road trips because my parents said if we had to watch a movie repeatedly that they needed to be able to enjoy it with out watching. So since my dad picked that one, I'd say that's his favorite. (Side note - we also had Happy Gilmore and Mission Impossible 2 and that's it. Those three for YEARS were the only movies we watched on our multiple yearly treks from Chicago to Cleveland or spring breaks drives to Florida. )

Here's my only follow up question - why is Karen such a bummer? Besides that, I think I'm caught up.

I'm on episode 5 and enjoying it but I'm seriously lacking backstory because I only watched half of S1 of Daredevil and Jessica Jones. But maybe that makes it more enjoyable since I'm not worried about whatever their personal stuff is? I do get a little bored at parts too, but whenever the Defenders are all together or their personal side characters hang out it seems to be more engaging. Full disclosure, I find Finn Jones very attractive so his bland acting doesn't bother me as much. Also thank god Rosario Dawnson is the connective tissue for a lot of these worlds otherwise I would be very lost.

I relisten to Lake Placid, Deep Blue Sea and Confessions of a Marriage Counselor all the time. Its like a guaranteed happiness

I'm unfortunately going to have to bow out of this one, which is a total bummer. Have fun!

The second listen of the episode is twice as funny because you can hear Jamie's daughter laughing at her mom swearing.

Yay! I love Also I have now listened to all three episodes of Off Book multiple times now and have the first song of PFT's episode just stuck firmly in my head. Caught myself humming it while walking my dog.

I had NO idea what was going on with the poison scene. I couldn't make heads or tails of anything that was going on from after the dad punched the girls in the face til they showed back up in the dressing room and no one really cared.

I couldn't really grasp what had happened on that casting couch. I mean, I obviously get they were sexually assaulted. But based on how Golden ate that one guy in the car, I would assume if he rendered Silver catatonic that Golden would have reacted accordingly. How did he do that to both of them? What the hell did he do? How did he manage to affect both girls so severely? I honestly thought there was going to be some sort of plot point about them being out of water for too long because of that. Nope.

I'm a solid maybe. I may have to teach a class that night but they cancelled the last one so it might not be happening. I could always pop in late too, depends on how bad traffic is in my area.

I would think when he saw that horrible cut around her waist, he would have looked disgusted or stopped her or something. But maybe he was too blinded by lust.

I'm pretty sure she was alive. I thought she was dead until Silver turned and looked at her and the girl looked back at her. That overhead shot of the donor looked very bizzare, like her head was too small for her body. I have no idea why someone would volunteer to have their lower half cut off and replaced with a fish tail.

I would say quantity of water, but it does seem like they just splash water on their legs in the beginning. Maybe they can control how fast their tails grow? The first scene it changes, it seemed like the scales came slowly. And when they jumped into the tank at the club, they appeared rapidly.

This is the perfect opportunity for me to ask my favorite stupid question. Do you guys think mermaid's fingers get pruney?

I think I'm confusing Disney mermaids and magic with monster mermaids and surgery.

You pretty much summed up my questions/reactions to this movie. I couldn't not figure out the dynamic of the band at all. After the dumping of the bodies over the bridge (which...did they think they were dead? From being punched) the fighting seemed very 'abusive family' like the woman was trying to protect her son from the husband. But the blowjob thing confused me. I liked the dark hair mermaid (Golden?) a lot. I think she had a great creepy vibe. I would have liked to spend more time with her just stalking people. The redhead one just confused me. I get that she cut off her legs but her upper half still had those crazy teeth? (also have questions if the fins will turn into legs on the person that they transplanted them onto) If she had killed the bassist at his wedding, would her fins have magically grown back? Why would you cut off your legs for someone who dumped your body over a bridge? Also how can mermaids smoke? Do they have human lungs? I've never watched GoT. I think its too late for me.
