Most of this movie gave me a post-traumatic 80's tummyache. But something I was surprised to like, as a gender-studies major, was all the super-sexy shots of Brad. Would John Hughes have shot Andrew McCarthy shirtless in the sprinklers? Luis gets to show a lot of sexual agency, she's INTO it. This is a sharp contrast to other 80's movies, where nice girls were constantly fighting off date rapists, or sex was something they surrendered reluctantly, knowing it would lower their value.
