  1. 100% yes, always loved this movie and been fascinated with Edward D Wood since my mid-teens. Even did a project on him for English class and introduced the whole class to Plan 9. I digress, it's a yes.

  2. When I saw Devin tweeting about watching Both the other week I suspected it was in preparation for an episode and I thought to myself "that's a definite yes". Since then I watched a movie that shifted my mind; Don't Be A Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood. The ease at which Don't Be A Menace spoofs Boyz by playing scenes straight from the film and just having a character shout "message" speaks to how blatant the film is.

Another thing that shifted my opinion was Devin's argument about the speeches in the film and how they all feel fake. Take He Got Game for example, it has a really in your face speech scene but it presents it so theatrically that it sells it. Here it just feels like people not talking like people.

While Furious Styles is one of my favourite characters of all time this is a soft no for me.

  3. It's going to have to be a soft no for me on this one. I think I watched the film too late and too influenced by its limitations to truly appreciate it. However the fact that the film on a pure quality level couldn't elevate itself above that for me makes it a no. Fincher has much better work in his catalogue too.

  4. For me it's got to be Superman, it's not a hard choice but it feels like an odd choice. I think both films are inferior to their sequels and this definitely hurts Batman more as the version of Superman II that's superior is the Donner Cut which is closer to a special feature than an actual sequel.

It took many viewings for me to actually embrace Batman and the first time I saw it I didn't even finish it. I love the Gothic designs, but it doesn't properly find it's feet.

Superman I always liked, the first hour really captures all the wonders of Superheros better than any other film, and it still gets me every time. It's close, but my vote has to be for Superman.
