Just FYI, Devin posted on IG and addressed Amy (whose birthday is today) as his once and future podcast co-host, so it sure sounds like his return is in play.

Was ready to love a discussion about these films, but my mounting annoyance at having guests call into the studio is getting hard to ignore. Yes, it's a byproduct of the show's new format, but I am impressively petty.
Â
Speaking of, David Chen's weak ass arguments and interjections were figuratively killing me throughout the entire episode.

Glad to hear the ball's in Devin's court. I love Amy, but this show's tattooed in my brain as a distinct two-hander with each personality fulfilling equally wonderful roles.

I was a big fan of Devin- probably more than most- but I can't imagine Devin would return to internet film criticism. The internet is very quick to judge, and i'm not sure it's ever forgiving.

Man, my impression was always that people got angry in an intensely short burst, then moved on. There's always something new to get emotional about, so I figured Devin would be safe. Given his recent posts, though, I'm guessing he's moved on. As long as he's happy.

A lot of the "bad stories" about Devin seem to be from his days in New York and/or at CHUD, whereas his current friendlier circle seems to be L.A. and/or BMD-based. Right now I'm thinking this might be a story about a guy who tried to do better after moving to a new city but couldn't outrun his past.
Â
We'll see. There could be more stories about to emerge.
Â
(This isn't to say we should feel sorrier for Devin than for the victim here. Of course not. But if the above is true, then Devin's story is a bit more interesting/nuanced than him just being a monster and a hypocrite. And the fact that his last Canon podcast might be A Face in the Crowd is . . . incredibly ironic.)
Â
Having followed him for quite some time, I get the sense that he's made a conscious effort to change parts of himself that he recognized as problematic in the past. I think that takes a ton of humility and must have been incredibly difficult.

I can't speak to anything more than my general feelings on the treatment of others based on my own experiences. I just hope those who have been sexaully assaulted can continue to feel safe to talk about their experience and heal, and that those who have committed assault can confront the vileness of their actions, do whatever they can to offer amends, and change.
Â
I've always had a difficult time articulating my curiosity in the possibility of the accuser simply lying, but your take really helped.

Wow, Edgar would've been great on this episode, too.
