it's 2018 and HDTGM still hasn't watched Surviving the Game https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MT14VKC2mXg

Good suggestion! I still have my VHS of this movie. Loved introducing this to people. Really fun, cheesy effects. I recall they use hula hoops for a sorcery effect at one point. Jack Palance is scenery-chewing monster as the villain. It's certainly a turd, but it's an endearing turd.

Woof. This is one of the most insufferable films I've ever sat through. Hated every minute of it.

I watched this and Blair Witch 2 in short succession recently. I nearly OD-ed on early-2000s motion blur effects.

Happy to see this thread pop back up! Would looooove to have this one on HDTGM. This was nearing the end of times for the ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK FROM THE MOTION PICTURE craze. So they work a bunch of original songs into the film. It's still insanely funny to me that Lestat rises to power on the merits of his particular brand of Nü Metal. There is nothing in this scene that has aged well. I posted another video in this thread last year (how time flies!), but I still love .

This movie is good, and it would be a great HDTGM episode. I'm 100% sure the director, Jackie Kong, would be down for a Blake Harris interview. She did a screening tour of Blood Diner earlier this year, and appeared on a few podcasts. She loves talking about this movie (and she should, it's a good movie).

Prediction: Jason will like this movie, June will not. -
Just watched this for the first time in my life. Knowing nothing about it beforehand, I had such a great time with this movie. The opening where Lestat is awakened by a Nü-Metal band and immediately is hysterical. HDTGM hasn't done a vampire movie since Twilight (?), maybe it's due.

This looks great, going to watch it tomorrow! Not only does this movie have Jeff Fahey (please, HDTGM, consider Lawnmower Man), it also has a Brad Dourif. He's done some wonderful work, in some un-wonderful films. The man is a professional.

Adding my voice to the chorus-- . Its been a favorite bad movie of mine for a while. They filmed this in my hometown, which they hilariously try to pass off as Seattle (they also try to pass off the Philadelphia skyline as Seattle). I still have a production jacket with the people-hunting company's logo on the back. StG bursts with some fierce scenery-chewing monologues. And this cast is stacked--John C. McGinley, Rutger Hauer, Charles S. Dutton (actually convicted of manslaughter), Ice-T, and F. Murray Abraham. But the crown jewel is Gary Busey's "Prince Henry Stout" speech. Busey claims that the speech was mostly improv. I can't tell how much of it is. Regardless, it is Busey's own "Tears in the Rain" monologue.
