Written by Nia Vardalos, who wrote the hit rom-com My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002). My Life in Ruins (Driving Aphordite in the UK) has 9% on RT and abysmal reviews. According to Wikipedia, the script was originally written by Mike Reiss (The Simpsons), but was rewritten by Vardalos. I haven't watched it yet, but the trailer is painful - they could barely find a joke in the film to include. Vardalos seems bored in it. It actually has a solid cast including Richard Dreyfuss and Rachel Dratch. It looks like another example of a movie that tries to recreate the success of a previous film with the same writer, producers, etc. but the result is so sad and limp. Has anyone seen it?

A recent guest on Gilbert Gottfried’s podcast mentioned that apparently Mae West was being fed her lines via a device hidden in her wig. In the “Love Will Keep Us Together” scene with Timothy Dalton, which you can watch on YouTube, it really sounds like they just dubbed her lines.

I found nothing humorous about that scene. It was unfunny, uncomfortable to watch and gross. Leo didn’t want to be touched by that police officer. Someone in a position of authority feeling up someone and making sexual comments - so gross. That actor should be ashamed for taking that part.

Freaking freezing, but it’s February.

Resident of "Little Italy, Canada" here. I think you owe us a live show at The Royal Cinema just for: a) thinking Canada is cold year-round b) being surprised that "Canada" (Toronto) has a Little Italy (lots of major cities have Little Italy's) c) waiting until the last few minutes of the podcast to do a five-second Google search to confirm where the movie takes place! I blame our tourism board, actually. Historically they've done a terrible job of promoting Canada and especially Toronto. Anyways, COME TO TORONTO!

I'm surprised more people haven't mentioned the lame "cat scare" trope in this movie, also known as . See if you can spot it!
