I haven't seen this, but...Shaq is in it. Seems like a contender just because of his involvement. Amazing that the box office is more than 3x the budget of $40M.

I just listened to the "Winter's Tale" episode and was so confused when they started talking about this one. I wasn't paying attention and initially missed that it was discussion of a separate movie, instead thinking that it was the beginning of "Winter's Tale."

Watch it. Kindergarten Cop is a diamond in the rough. Not without its imperfections, but still a real gem. Also, did you know they did a part two with Dolph Lundgren?

What are these books all about? The description makes them sound super nerdy. Reception for the film adaptations looks good financially, but the RT feedback is a solid downward trend from film to film.

The Peanut Butter Solution (1985)
IRONicmerMAN replied to hguftyfdt's topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
Oh boy. This one has to be done at some point. I haven't seen it (yet) and hadn't heard of it until recently. Looks like a good watch for the crew. -
You beat me to it. Doesn't sound like this one was made with common sense lighting the way. http://variety.com/2016/film/box-office/ben-hur-box-office-flops-suicide-squad-1201841769/ http://variety.com/2016/film/box-office/ben-hur-jack-huston-charlton-heston-1201841537/ Good call on Noah. I made the mistake of mentioning that one inside my recommendation of Requiem for a Dream, which didn't go over well.

This is amazing. If I owned a bar, I'd have a tv dedicated to playing this at last call.

EPISODE 120 - Masters of the Universe
IRONicmerMAN replied to JulyDiaz's topic in How Did This Get Made?
The return of He-Man and MotU... http://www.esquire.com/entertainment/a47703/masters-of-the-universe-going-to-be-better-than-game-of-thrones/ 'Could Masters Of the Universe be the next expanded-world franchise with spin-off solo movies for Man at Arms and Teela? Certainly he reckons Skeletor is up there with the all-time great baddies. "To me: Vader, Gruber, Skeletor," he added. "That's how powerful the antagonist is to me. Maybe I'm just a weirdo. No, but, for real. I think that's how important Skeletor is to the world."' -
He's really been in his fair share of turds over the last few years. Even the best aren't immune...Walken, De Niro, J Lo.
-
I see she's also been in films starring Bruce Willis and Robert De Niro. Considering some of the choices these guys have made over the last few years, are they trying to have their reputations pulverized during their lifetimes?

$10M budget, $51k box office. Whoa. Also in the movie is Treat Williams. Birth name, Richard Treat Williams. AKA...Dick Treat.

Hellraiser: Bloodline (1996)
IRONicmerMAN replied to Jacob McCraw's topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
"We have such sights to show you!" In total there are nine (NINE!!!) films in the Hellraiser canon. I had no idea, previously only familiar with the first three or four. The original is good. The second isn't bad. After that, they went off the rails. Way off the rails, as in five straight-to-dvd releases. Wikipedia for the last installment even states "The film was produced in a matter of weeks". There's a tenth coming along with a possible reboot. To quote Jason, "oh brother." In this case, I don't think they should stop at just reviewing one film in the series for an upcoming episode. Even though their "suffering will be legendary, even in hell!", it would be awesome if they reviewed a couple or few of these and did a mega show. Agreed that it would be great if Adam Scott would come back as the guest host. That would make an epic live show. If Adam isn't available, count me in.- 11 replies

June & Paul's Child Conception (Como???)
IRONicmerMAN replied to IRONicmerMAN's topic in How Did This Get Made?
Well I'll be damned. Thanks for the heads up. Based on that timeline, looks like it could have been Lifeforce. Space travel, nude people in suspended animation and shape-shifting space vampires are quite the aphrodisiacs. Death Spa could have been in the running, but it would have been a little early. I'll still hold out hope that it was Star Wars Holiday Special watched before Thanksgiving that did the trick. Congrats June and Paul! I hope all is well. -
Uh, who hasn't been kept in diapers well into adult years? You guys act like this is something weird. It's so efficient!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6PSHZN8CKY https://en.wikipedia...of_Blood_Island "A woman running naked through the jungle on Blood Island is killed by something that resembles a man. At the same time, a ship arrives at the island carrying American pathologist Bill Foster (Ashley), who is investigating the discovery of green blood; Sheila Willard (Pettyjohn), who has come to find her father; and Carlos Lopez (Ronaldo Valdez), who wants to get his mother, Mrs. Lopez (Tita Muñoz), off the island. The captain of the ship claims that the island is cursed and tells a story of a man they picked up on a raft who bled green blood. Sheila finds out that her father (Tony Edmunds) is a hopeless drunk. Carlos' mother doesn't want to leave the island, even though her husband, Don Ramon Lopez, is dead. Dr. Lorca (Ronald Remy) doesn't tell much about Don Ramon's death. Marla (Alicia Alonzo) drops some hints about Don Ramon, much to the annoyance of Carlos' mother. Dr. Lorca and his assistant Razak (Bruno Punzalan) head into the jungle, looking for something. One night, a native with green sores on his body tries to break into the government house, but gets away. The next day, Willard goes into the jungle to watch Marla swim. Sheila follows him before she is attacked by a monster who butchers one of the natives. It is revealed that Dr. Lorca has been experimenting on the islanders, including Don Ramon, who was dying of cancer but was turned him into a monster by Lorca's serum. Don Ramon kills his wife and Dr. Lorca captures Carlos. Marla, who was Don Ramon's lover, leads him to Dr. Lorca, who is apparently killed. A fire breaks out and Lorca's lab explodes. Sheila, her father, Dr. Foster and Carlos return to the ship to leave the island. A hand appears under a tarp, dripping green blood."

Suicide Squad (2016)
IRONicmerMAN replied to Colfax McLiverneck's topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
I haven't (and probably won't) see it, but I heard Leto's Joker was basically the same thing as Heath Ledger's portrayal. Is that accurate? -
Here's a couple sad stats that show why films like this keep getting made. 44% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. B+ audience score on Cinemascore. And stats that show why films like this should never, ever be made ever again. 4% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes. 3.4 score on IMDB. 11 of 100 score on Metacritic. $6.5M opening weekend box on budget of...$30M!
-
The budget was $30M. Maybe he got ~1/3 of it. This makes it seem somewhat more reasonable of Spacey: "Spacey barely promoted the movie, which was the brainchild of former EuropaCorp chief executive Christophe Lambert, who envisioned the film as a high-concept comedy before repositioning it as a family film. Ousted from the company last February, Lambert died of lung cancer in May at the age of 51. Nine Lives cost just over $30m to make."

This Wikipedia entry has me sold on adding this one to the HDTGM queue. "A month later, Snaps awakes at his mansion and begins his important morning. He has a meeting with several prominent bankers, as he hopes to donate a large sum of cash and join the bank’s board of trustees, thereby having an honest job and keeping his word to his father. Anthony Rossano, Snaps's young, good-natured accountant, arrives at the mansion and tells his boss that he’s in love, asks for a 250% raise, then tells Snaps the true love he speaks of is actually "Snaps's daughter." Snaps is furious, does not want his daughter marrying Anthony and goes to talk to his daughter, Lisa."

This seems like a solid choice. I just became familiar with the film, and, oh boy. They had Smith on as a guest before, so why not bring him in for this one?

I just listened to this one and noticed a doozy from the movie wasn't mentioned in the show. When Mrs. Brody views her dead son's body (unemotionally, I might add), the other deputy passes her Mike's belongings...including his service weapon! It's right on top of the pile. Is she deputized? If not, I have a hard time believing you can just give a weapon away. 4:44 in this clip shows his gun. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHbf_h9Q5QI
