DON'T BE A MENACE TO SOUTH CENTRAL WHILE DRINKING YOUR JUICE IN THE HOOD may be my favorite Wayans film for that very reason. The whole thing makes a point to punch through any sort of ham-fisted pandering that they saw in some of the "urban" "message films" they saw, at the time.

Homework: The Blair Witch Project (1999)
FredrickMaxwell replied to nickperkins's topic in The Canon
Re-watching this should be interesting, considering I haven't seen it since it came out. Just for it's importance in the place of modern horror film making, I think it's Cannon Worthy, but the real question will be if the actual horror within it holds up. Like someone else already mentioned, not having that background radiation of uncertainty around it may diminish the horror. At any rate, I'm eager to see it again. -
For me, I can say I don't have too much of an issue identifying with a female lead. I know that in every game that allows me to choose my gender, I always choose a woman since it's an experience I don't commonly get. As far as films go, one of my favorites is The Devil Wears Prada.

Something I think is amazing is the level of relevance this film has to our current time. Here we have the walking embodiment of Black Excellence, and his White Ally, who both exist inside of a highly repressive system of various means of oppression. They both see the issue and work together to dismantle that system, gaining other allies (other oppressed groups: the Native Americans) and showing the people within the system how absurd it is. It's such a powerful thing made all the better with the fact that it's absolutely hilarious. I gotta say, Devin, much like Sausage Party, Blazing Saddles is so Unwoke, it's Woke AF.

I would have to pick 1989's TETSUO: THE IRON MAN.
