A Canon based around purely cultural impact seems quite tedious to me. Ghostbusters doesn't do anything wrong per se, but it's also a film that doesn't really dazzle in the way a Canon film should. I'll be voting no, but can I just say I'm so happy to see The Canon come back. This was a great episode and the argument regarding whether or not this was the most notable Bill Murray film nearly edged me to the side of yes.

I only watched it last night, so I haven't had a lot of time for the film to grow on me. But right now, it's a yes. I was enthralled, entertained and engaged. Makes me want to check out the rest of Kazan's filmography.

I found Amy's entire argument against the bullying thing to be pretty absurd. I don't know if the alpha-male pecking order still exists between friend groups at this age, but considering the period, it certainly is accurate. Is that a reason for a film to be Canon--worthy, though? I could argue it is a merit that very few other films achieve. Does it prey on nostalgia? I could argue that the film capturing the atmosphere of being a child as opposed to making specific references implies a level of storytelling skill which excels past, as Devin stated, something like Family Guy. But that's not a real argument, is it? Eh, whatever.
