So who's actively working on the 'put 'er in a brar' supercut right now? The most inevitable segment of the next Howdies, right there. -

Mostly because you called me out. And I originally mistyped it so I called you Marc instead. Marc Blucas, I assume. As for the Canon stash, be cool, man, be cool- 208 replies

But also important given our conversation from, oh, five pages ago, that discussed how Repo! and Repo Men are suggested by some to be rip-offs of one from the other. The presence of the same actor is brilliant. I want to hear that conversation between him and his agent. "So we've got you a movie called 'Repo Men'" "I was already in 'Repo!'" "No, this is another thing, with Jude Law." "Jude Law's in the sequel to 'Repo!'?"- 208 replies

Wow, EllenMc, your multiquote game (and sense of humour!) is strong here. I noticed this too: I used to watch VoT and as soon as I saw Marty Adams I thought 'oh fuck, was this shot in Toronto?' (it was). THE BEST THING ABOUT THIS IS THIS. http://imgur.com/a/ePSSz This is from Marty Adams' IMDb page. Do you see what two films he was in, in 2008 and 2010, and what roles he played? We have singularity, folks.- 208 replies

So, there's been some talk about Paul Sorvino and his singing, but I didn't have a problem with it really. Sorvino's a trained opera singer so it makes some sense for him to be in this, I just think the material isn't strong enough for him to carry the role. Anyone else get a real Fulgencio Capulet vibe out of him in this movie, particularly the moments in the limo? He's essentially playing the same role as he played in Luhrmann's 'Romeo + Juliet' but without the decent writing to save him. One thing I'd like to point out is that he sings in Luhrmann's 'Romeo + Juliet' as well, during Romeo's drug trip at the Capulet party, which is just an excerpt from his full singing version (which gets him a credit on the R+J soundtrack). Here's the full ballroom version of the song: timecode embedding doesn't work on this forum so fast forward to 01.52. He also sang in the nearly-forgotten 'Harlem Aria', where he (and his nipple) and a street hustler somehow sings Puccini (jump to 01.25): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mj3Lp03l42w Dude's plenty talented, it's just that he was singing some seriously horrible stuff in Repo! Thanks, Repo!.- 208 replies

Shilo's mom jumped into bed with Giles pretty fast and then immediately got married. Surely Rotti has some suspicion that Shilo could be his. Maybe Shilo's mom was pulling a cuckoo job on Giles.- 208 replies

Hey what's the deal with the Zydrate the graverobber steals? So you're saying to junkies, "hey, don't bother with that expensive Zydrate the corporation sells you, just shoot up this corpse snot, it's essentially the same thing." Why do corpses have heavy drugs stored in their skulls? Why does it glow? Why buy it when you can just go suck on a corpse's nose?- 208 replies

This seems like a really expensive outfit, really. So it seems to me that the main things that GeneCo deal in are: 1) replacement organs 2) highly addictive bathtub heroin to make surgery painless But to make the organs affordable they make them cheap enough for everyone to be able to afford them, but it also seems like the point is to get the users onto the synthetic horse that they're peddling. And when people can't afford to pay, they employ a whole squad of vigilante sadists to tear out organs and, what? Throw them in buckets and drawers and pockets and shit? Surely now the next person who gets that organ will notice it's uh, pre-loved? But in the end it seems like they're spending all this money and no one can afford to keep their organs. Why not phase out the organs part now that everyone's addicted to the synthetic drug they make? Add to that, they show people getting BRAIN transplants. How can they be the same person after a brain transplant? And what about infections? The alley surgery makes that guy who did the Joker's surgery in Tim Burton's 'Batman' look like Andre Nowzick (heyoo lurker Scheer!).- 208 replies

Maybe Sarah wanted to show Dame Sir Andrew that she could be in things without his help. That showed him. Whenever I see her I always think about the appalling theme song to the 1992 Olympics that used to play at EVERY commercial break that year. God I hated it.- 208 replies

Also, very importantly, after her long, storied, and award-winning career, including creating the role of Christine Daaë, this was Sarah Brightman's movie debut. She waited all that time for... this? This makes me think of Cameron's review on letterboxd about Jerry Seinfeld choosing 'Bee Movie' as his one and only foray into cinema.- 208 replies

So, I posted the above clip of Giles as Frank-N-Furter (sorry, I can't hate him no matter what he does. If he's revealed to be a war criminal who eats live bunnies, I'd still love him) as a precursor to this post about his ability to be in this project. As Wikipedia's told us all, Giles was cast in this movie based on the strength of his performance in the iconic episode of Buffy, 'Once More With Feeling'. In that episode, he absolutely holds his ground and even gives a nuanced, sensitive performance. What you might have missed is that Giles is part of a musical family: his brother, Murray Head, had a big hit in the 1980's, with a radio-friendly track from another musical, which (OF COURSE) was a show about a board game, written by the guys from ABBA. Of course. Still a great song (with some questionable racial lyrics, granted) that still holds up today. Usefully, this song was also co-written by Tim Rice, who of course wrote the lyrics to JC Superstar. Everything is connected, yo.- 208 replies
