The xXx thread is such a bummer without you guys commenting. -
Episode 156 - xXx: Return of Xander Cage: LIVE!

She's in at least half of all scenes in the movie. I too was outraged they didn't talk about her in the podcast because she featured heavily but was barely mentioned. Highlights: Ruby ambushes a bad guy by entering a scene via silks. Ruby looks like she's going to sniper murder a lion but it turns out she's rather sniper wounding tourist hunters, who are then eaten by said lion. Ruby also provides endless witty banter to accompany the infiltration scenes and single-handedly murders an entire Russian gang, accurately using the witty nicknames that Vin Diesel had given them seconds before. At one stage she asks for permission to shoot a guy in the head because he looks like a douchebag. Finally, Ruby also aggressively hits on Nina Dobrev. I for one remain thrilled that Ruby is allowed to speak in her own accent. She was seriously one of the best parts of the film. -

In case you're interested - here's the show Jason's talking about that featured Eric Bana on "Australia's Saturday Night Live" (it's not really like SNL). He was a comedian on the show "Full Frontal" for years. His big breakout role was playing all-round asshead Chopper Read, which vaulted him into serious roles. -

Correction on Live audience member comment: When Xander puts the TV on for the villagers, this is not the Brazil vs. Germany World Cup game. First, Germany beat Brazil 7-1 in the World Cup semi-final of 2014, not the final. Second, the team on the screen against Brazil are wearing dark jerseys, which Germany often do in international play, but for that World Cup game, they wore red and black hoops, as pictured here: So, it isn't the same game. Also, if we are to believe that the satellite crash and the soccer game are happening at the same time, if it were the 2014 World Cup, Neymar Jr. broke a bone in his foot in Brazil's quarter-final win over Colombia and missed that humiliating loss to Germany. This might explain why he's off being talked to by Samuel L. Jackson, but it doesn't explain how Neymar is able to kick a napkin dispenser at a robber with such an injury. Long story short: this is absolutely not the World Cup humiliation of Brazil in this movie. -

I particularly loved how the boys doubled down on 'jacket' despite June correcting them. -
That gagging button at the end of the trailer is the best thing I've seen all week. Go Zouks!

I bet this is another example of actors being told to riff because there's no script for that bit yet, just like the 'i won't have children because i'm an asshole' speech that Lucy gives. -

The dreaded Princeton Steamer. It's an occupational hazard of an Ivy League education. -

Well, it seems to be unanimous. Tomspanks, you owe me a coke for getting you off the hook as being the person who made the worst pick ever. Apparently this was the JaMarcus Russell of musicals... -

And just to distract from that obnoxious post just above: On Monday, Fister said that he had 'so much to say about this film' but a busy work schedule prevented him that day. Have we truly had the full onslaught of Fister opinions on this movie? Time's running out... -

Hey, speaking about how dumb Valentine's Day is (was that this thread? Or another one?) - anyone see the Netflix Michael Bolton Valentine's Day special? Lots of Earwolf talent in there. I saw it last night, meaning to watch five minutes and not being able to look away. It's something else, alright. -

He's a taxi driver at the beginning too - he nearly runs JoJo over and Joe Cocker the hippie rescues him from being squashed. I think that's just the job Max got and kept it throughout. There are several deleted scenes on the Blu Ray of Max rescuing a 13 year old prostitute with a gun sleeve. -

Speaking of moments where other randoms chime in - in 'Hey Jude' there's that drunk guy who shouts out 'Hey Jude' as he falls down drunk, for some reason. The interjections there seemed weird too. Except for one thing. The sound of all those Liverpudlian urchins in a back alley just like the ones that the Beatles grew up in, all singing 'na, na, na, nanana naahhhh' in Hey Jude - essentially representing their heritage - is a favourite of mine. -

Hey! Speaking of IMDb trivia: what do we make of the fact that Paul, Yoko, Ringo, and Linda Harrison all endorse this film? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0445922/trivia?item=tr0752074 Apparently Paul sang along in the cinema while he watched, which is terribly sweet (and you can TOTALLY picture him doing that) -

Yes, exactly. But they couldn't include an actual joint because that would mess with their rating. H/T to IMDb. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0445922/trivia?item=tr1068664 -

Sadie and the Po'Boys (completely nonsensical New Orleans reference for no reason) -
Oh no, I'm pretty sure Paddy is used here as a generic term for Irishman. This is the same movie where Janeane Garofalo is told that she should come out with them 'for the craic' and she thinks they want her to smoke crack. I'm 100% sure this isn't a movie designed for consumption by Irish people. Or am I misremembering, Cameron? Also: hey, remember that period in the mid-90's where they were trying to make the Janeane Garofalo as romantic lead thing happen? I like her a lot, but it never really made sense to me.
