He's not in the one they're covering on the podcast though: Trejo was in the 2002 film.

This was originally supposed to be a call-out to Neil Gaiman's 'The Wolves in the Walls' but I thought that was a long stretch, so I changed the end. But really, I stand by it. We use the phrase all the time at our house... Because when the wolves come out of the walls... it's all over.

Yes, his convenient graffiti message was an epic eye-roll moment. Most importantly: why didn't he ask her to give him the results of the upcoming Super Bowls and World Series? He could have Biff Tannened the shit out of that magic mailbox.

Okay, fine, I might have overstated my opposition to that dumb movie. But the Chaos Theorists are going to have a field day with this one. And when the Chaos Theorists come out of the woodwork, you know you're in for a long week.

Guys, I'm 20 minutes into 'The Lake House' #isthisevenhappening

I have seen Phantom 3-4 times live and have always been really fond of it. I made the mistake a few years ago of assigning it as a text in an Adaptation Theory class that I was teaching, so we spent 4 weeks on nothing but 'Phantom' (I feel like I'm repeating myself from another thread). Anyway, going through that experience kind of put me off it, but I still love it from when I was a kid. So cheesy! Don't judge it on that awful Schumaker film: the live at the Albert Hall version is much better.

Hence the reference! (Sorry, the thought came into my head and I assumed you all heard it)

(I'd completely forgotten until just this minute about the repellent film adaptation of 'The Fantasticks' starring Joey MacIntyre from New Kids and the eldest daughter from Uncle Buck and Joel Grey slumming it. Oh had I remembered that existed before I picked Across the Universe)

Yeah, I gotta agree with Taylor Anne - we don't want to give away all our favourites do we? Instead, I'll nominate my favourite stage musicals, regardless of whether there have been film adaptations. HINT: they have nearly all been adapted into films, but the films aren't always good. This is about my favourite stage musicals, not films. The Fantasticks Hamilton Guys and Dolls Urinetown Jesus Christ Superstar Godspell Spider-Man Turn off the Dark (j/k) The Hunting of the Snark (check out the concept album footage on YouTube: awesome) Phantom of the Opera (shut up) Les Mis Chicago Sweeney Todd Assassins Rent Avenue Q Into the Woods Man of La Mancha So, many of those have film versions, but I don't like all the films. But the plays? LOVE.

    Episode 155 - Airborne: LIVE!

My most ardent hope is that Shane McDermott will call 1-800-PAUL-ASK to explain his art and give us some insight to his life, including how it was to play Mitchell, but also other important things like the Navigation District election. Come on Shane, we know you're lurking...

If I wasn't about to go into a play workshop I'd Photoshop everyone's avatars on to this. So instead I'll leave this here and ask... Who is who? (this is the cast of 'Sister Wives' to anyone who thought I was just being mean to random people)

That's true. Whereas I'm emotionally distant, Australian, bearded, and play rugby. I'll check all the macho boxes.

Ha ha! I've listened to that soundtrack so many times with my kids (before bed danceparties are common at my house) that it's starting to grow on me more. I must have been super grumpy the day I wrote that one. Which one's mom and which one's dad?

That's true. 'Goonies' is better than it too. So is 'Back to the Future'. Here's how we'll fill our time between now and Monday!

Ahh, but this is apples versus oranges here. 'Tommy' was written as a cohesive musical, with songs written specifically to move the narrative along, whereas 'Across' is a Jukebox Musical, where the songs have little to do with each other and thus the narrative is stalled every time the music starts. Hence, the need to say 'Hey, remember JoJo from 40 minutes ago? We need him again now!' - but I'm getting ahead of myself. Plus, still: no child abuse.
