    Episode 206.5 - Minisode 206.5

Paul, my friend. I've been meaning to bring this up for a long time ... when you do your little joke about "Paul Ass" and "Paul Ask," it never works for me, because (to my ears at least), you pronounce them exactly the same! Should you continue with this bit, I recommend taking care to clearly pronounce the /k/ in "ask." Hope that helps.

    Best Of 2018: Blockbusters

The extended discussion on whether a superhero movie needs to be on the all-time list was interesting. Yes, it’s a major genre and you would expect to see one on for cultural purposes. I’ve seen the bulk of the superhero movies going back to the 1978 Superman so I think I’m qualified to say that the problem is that no superhero movie made so far is good enough. None of them will be for the ages. Watchmen shoild have been that hood—it had the sophisticated theme and complex story to make it timeless—but it failed to work as a movie. The MCU movies are just varying levels of competetent and entertaining, but ultimately they’re all just hack movies. None of them can stand on its own, like the original “Star Wars.”

    E.T. The Extra Terrestrial

I re-watched this movie after many, many years after listening to the episode. In fact it might be 30 years or so since I have seen it. I was really surprised how riveting and funny the first two acts were. I did kind of lose interest when E.T. got sick and the government showed up though. I loved Paul and Amy pointing out the little blonde girl whom Elliott kissed had been trying to get his attention the whole time. Drew Barrymore's performance was such a treat.

Episode 182 - Rock Star: LIVE!

Okay, I know I'm getting to this way late, but I just listened to the episode and watched the movie on HBO. I would have loved the gang to explain what was up with that Batmobile scene. What was the point of that?
