    i think the earwolf site is great. i love the way all guests and hosts are cross-referenced for appearances and photos, and the interface is very clean and simple. so whatever else you may be fixing in the future, i hope you'll be keeping the overall feel of the site the same :)

     

    quick question...earwolf shows have ventured up to Canada on the west coast, but how about some love for us east coast fans? i saw Paul F Tompkins at Just For Laughs in Montreal last year, but would love to see a live Who Charted, CBB, or HDTGM in Toronto or Montreal!

    Leor! Thanks for the kind words about the website. We won't change anything too drastically I don't think, and honestly I don't know how quickly we'll even be able to make small changes.

     

    As far as visiting Eastern Canada, I can assure you we have nothing against that part of the wonderful world. One thing that is hard for us is out-of-town shows. It's a ton of work for little or no money. Having said that, there is nothing that we enjoy more than being in front of the people who love what we do. It's just really hard. Maybe one day we'll hire someone just for live shows, but I don't think it would come close to paying for itself (ignoring any profit motive, which we wouldn't really have for this situation anyway since the benefit would be in doing it.

    Something I haven't seen clarified anywhere: Are the videos going to delivered as the regular weekly audio-only podcasts, or are they a separate entity altogether?

     

    Imagine if poor Andy Daly had to leap out of the first floor Earwolf window 7-10 times in a row for the sake of the viewing audience...

    I think it will be a mix, but most will probably be released later as a regular episode. We're still figuring out the details. And I have no sympathy for Andy Daly, he steals our bathroom keys.

    When I saw the amount of comments in this thread, my assumption was that we had a severe spam problem. I'm glad that's not the case.

     

    I think it's great that Scott said his piece, it's something we've discussed before as part of a larger discussion about internet feedback, which can be challenging to receive. But we get through it.

     

    Congrats to Earwolf fans for being awesome, I think this thread set some sort of internet record for most thoughtful and reasonable discussion about something that is a very sensitive and polarizing topic. It makes me proud to put stuff out for such deserving people. Thanks.

    Also, I know it was in works a while ago and didn't go through, bu is there a chance of Mr. Blow (the Mr Show podcast) ever happening? Even as an Earwolf Presents?

    Unfortunately not. That's dead forever (I think).

    When did I talk about that? It's an old ass idea. Never materialized. New show announcement might be coming tomorrow, waiting to find out. It goes live at 11:59pm PST on Wednesday!

    OK, this is hugely trivial, but...

     

    What happens when an ad break is taken? Do the hosts and guests sit in silence while the ad plays in real-time, or are they faded out and chat amongst themselves? Or does the engineer just mark an edit point and put in the advert clip later?

    It's been done a bunch of different ways throughout the past few years, but as of now, we take the breaks and then record the ads after the show is over and the guests have left and they are put in later. That way the hosts can take their time with them and the guests don't have to sit and listen.

    Unfortunately not. This isn't exactly a secret place. If I let myself, I'd announce everything hear as soon as possible, I have no patience. But that's not a good idea, we have to build relationships with journalists. Sorry. I do share a ton of info here though, it's just not breaking news.

    I think the Analyze Phish episodes need their own playlist from the podcast drop-down menu rather than being hidden amongst all the other 'Earwolf Presents' specials, so they can be easier to find...

    This is a great idea for a topic. I've enjoyed reading all your thoughts and thank you for taking the time to answer the questions. I'm running out the door so will probably have more questions later, but in the meantime, can you give us any more information about the new show airing on Jan. 10? Maybe just a clue?     3 months ago while checking this very forum, I spilled water all over my laptop and killed it. But today it was returned to me as good as new! Thanks renter's insurance!

     

    A whole lot has happened while I was gone, lots of awesome new shows and I'm sure a lot of awesome new contributors to our forums. So be patient with me while I catch up on everything. I know there's a lot of spam waiting for me to delete it, so I'll get back to that.

     

    But I just wanted to let y'all know that I've returned and I'm here for you once again! So go ahead and pile on the questions and reports of spam and people being assholes... I'm so ready.

    Oh, she just organizes a couple of ComicCon and Anime Conventions. They are only a few thousand people right now, but she is looking to organize something larger. I was just wondering what it might take to have one of the podcasts as guests of the convention. (This is simply a "what if..." for the future.)
