  1. Really enjoyed this episode. Tig is great. Despite the "least important questions" tagline, Totally Laime is at its best when the guests talk about deeply personal and meaningful subjects. I love that Elizabeth and Andy create an atmosphere where guests feel comfortable enough to open up.

I know this may be Laimewad blasphemy, but I think it might be time to retire or at least rework the Oprah Game. Tig's reaction — "We had to stop talking… to do that?" — pretty much sums it up.

  2. None more appearances, please. The first post should be revised to read "Paul F. Tompkins, the suited gentleman you all know and love, has returned"

Yes, there's always plenty of energy with Paul, but it rarely seems genuine. It feels more like refocused contempt for the audience. I'm not a hater, and I don't think I'm projecting here, I just get a vibe from him like he doesn't really enjoy what he's doing. And it was disapoining to see him come up again when there are so many other funny people who have yet to be on, like:

I'm pretty sure you're projecting, although it is entirely possible that you are picking up on Mr. Tompkins' contempt for you specifically, and not for the audience at large.

With regards to your list of "funny people who have yet to be on": probably a third of those on the list are based on a different coast; at least two are based on a different continent; and two are network TV stars -- it should not surprise you when Howard and Kulap are unable to snap their fingers and make them materialize in the Earwolf Studios. Not to mention that everyone on that list is a successful comedy performer and/or writer, and are generally pretty busy performing and/or writing.

Also, one of those "funny people who have yet to be on" has, in fact, been on. I'll leave that one to you to figure out.

  3. First, Ellie Kemper is ridiculously adorable. Second, in 20+ years spent in curling clubs, I've never heard anyone use the term "kizzle kazzle". Third, thought I'd offer some expert1 recommendations for future discussions of curling-themed pornography:

    1. Female talent should repeatedly and loudly exhort their male partners to "Hurry Hard!"

    2. Some title suggestions for a variety of genres:

    Split the House

    Double-Tap

    Spinners (petite women)

    Mixed Bonspiel (interracial)

    8-Ender (reverse gangbang)

    Top 12 (gay orgy)

    3. Suggested names for male talent:

    Skip Rock

    The Hammer

    "Shorty" Jenkins (ironic)

    4. Use some or all of the following phrases:

"Oh yeah, give me the high hard one."

"I'm going to come through a tight port and bury my shooter in the back ring."

"Mmm… I want you to Sandra my Schmirler"2

1 Skipped the winning team in the 'C' Event of the 1992 University of Alberta Campus Recreation Mixed Funspiel

2 For use by advanced curling pornographers only: invoking the name of a deceased curler in sexual situations is considered indecent in most Canadian jurisdictions, and blasphemous in the province of Saskatchewan.

  4. …recycling Super Bowl twitter jokes? Not the greatest set of first takes you guys have done.

I concur. Your Super Bowl take struck me as uninspired, predictable, and lazy. Boy, was that half-time show gay (BTW, "listen to Todd Glass on WTF" is the podcast version of "some of my best friends are gay")? Cheap shots at the QB's supermodel wife? You guys are brilliant comedians, you're better than that.

I love the show, but this was not one of your finest efforts.

  5. Another great episode Sklars! Mande's Twitter takedown of Agent Zero was tremendous, and the fantasy analysis of America's Radio Sweetheart has never been so passionate & sharp— one always needs to know whose drop is stocking. It sucks that sportswriter Mike Grayson didn't make an appearance, but enjoyed Mr. Sulkin's podcast turn nonetheless.
