As a father of an 11 month old and a 3 1/2 year old I feel your pain Matt! Great Ep guys!

I agree, best so far. Also, I thought Bane's favorite actor was Michael Caine? None the less, I must have more. More Gelmania please.

Another great episode guys! Not that you didn't before Jeff, but I think you now have a new found respect for mom's and dad's that choose to stay home with the kids rather than go to work. I may have said this before in a previous post, but work is easy compared to having to keep a child entertained for 8 hours. Keep an eye on how much sleep your getting Jeff because sometimes I do the same thing and stay up too late and have no energy to deal with the kids when it is needed. Even with no energy to do so, you still have to "perform". I still struggle with this even after a year now with having 2 kids. Dave is right on about temper tantrums. DO NOT let the child get you all wired up because they aren't listening or don't want to do what you want them to and throw a tantrum. There's really nothing you can do at that point to stop the tantrum so there is no reason to go off the deep end. What we do is put the child in their room or in an corner of the house and tell them that when they calm down they can join the rest of the family. Sometimes it takes awhile but eventually they will calm down and resume behaving normally as if the tantrum never happened. I know you guys stated from the get go that the podcast would only be 30 mins but honestly I wish it would be more like an hour. I think some of the topics you guys discuss need to be drawn out a little more and it seems like you are a little rushed because of the time crunch. I mean I could talk about the topic of Attention for about 3 hours and to slice it down into a half an hour wouldn't do it justice. Anyone else agree?

"girlfriend, this plane stank" = me spraying coffee all over my monitor. Thanks Kyle! Also, the yodaberg impression was delightful!

Easy answer, you just deal with it. You may get some "mini-vacations" from your kids from time to time, but for the most part you rarely get time for yourself...at least when you have young children. Just remember this is what you signed up for. Both me and my wife work full time so every weekday is bascially a routine when we get home and there is no time for personal time for either of us. If something comes up and one of us can't be home at that time then its a huge strain on the other. Also, you should give her a break when you get home. I think we are all in agreement that going to work is 10 times easier than staying home with the kids, dare I even say its a "break". I would suggest on the weekends giving your wife some time to get out of the house and do something by herself while you watch your son and she should do the same thing for you some times as well. Just switch off with each other. You only have one child so that should be a piece of cake. Two kids is another story altogether!

Oh boy Jeff, you have a long way to go my friend. Always remember, the first year is the easy part. It may not seem like it now, but when you look back you will agree. The reason I say that is because you really don't do any "parenting" until they start to walk. And then the tantrums!!!!!! I thought Jeff's first day alone sounding pretty on par with my first time in that situation. Unfortunately, the amount of nap time you may get varies from each kid. When my 3 year old was an infant, she would nap for an hour and a half whereas our 11 month old naps for maybe 15-30 minutes max which basically means no more naps for mommy and daddy what so ever! Gratitude list: 1. I'm grateful that I have a wife that can put up with me 2. I'm greatful that I my 2 girls are healthy (today) 3. I'm grateful that I can listen to this podcast 4. I'm grateful that my youngest daughter is an eater 5. I'm grateful for the hour I get to relax after I get the kids to sleep.

I have to say, this was an ingenious idea Jeff! I have 2 young daughters (11 months and 3 1/2 years) so I am right in the thick of things and I can't wait to listen to this podcast on a weekly basis. One topic that you may want to discuss, that I am going through right now with my oldest, is she doesn't eat anything!!!!! Is that not the most frustrating thing in the world? A whole plate of food and nothing and theres nothing you can do to force it, at least as far as I have tried. It's either, mac-n-cheese, chicken nuggets, or ravioli's, thats it! Anyway, look forward to listening to you guys!

Toy Soldiers was the name of the movie!

Unfortunately, I've never heard of Dan before listening to this episode. This guy is amazing! His take on organized religion is spot on!
-
Are you trying to say Jesus can't hit a curveball? Love the new jumping off points idea!

Thats funny you feel this way. I always thought that is exactly what makes this podcast as great as it is. At this point in the history of this podcast do any of you actually care that you may not learn something from it? There is no other podcast that I listen to where I laugh as much and as hard as this one.

Crap! you're right, it is a river in Moscow. I guess it does make sense then.
-
its weird, the lyric is, "I follow the Moskva". Moskva I believe is the russian or polish word for Moscow. How does that work?

Gar needs to check out Michael Morse's batting stance from the National's. What the hell does he do before he enters the batters box? Stares and waves his bat like its a magic wand!

I concur! It just seems like this podcast keeps getting better and better every episode!

That was sooooo good! Taylor seems like a nice, sweet, funny, ferocious woman. Still waiting from someone to wrangle in Aaron!
