Episode 56 β Iliza Shlesinger, Our Close Friend
mwn replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Hollywood Handbook
nice. I'm sorry about what I said about the past. I like the past now, and I don't constantly think about all of the times I called people embarrassing things. speaking of which, I'm excited for the show with Mom and Mom tomorrow -

the past is bad. it has taken mbop from us, and it keeps me up at night, making me think about all the times I called the teacher "mom", or the waitress "mom", or every authority figure in my whole life "mom". I'm going to be more sad about MBOP now, though. -

clickhole is easily the funniest of all the mainstream media outlets, and I do NOT give that designation lightly -

Hearing a guest feel out the show's very specific vibe in real time was a lot of fun -
To host: Where is Thumbkin?? I tried this joke when Paul F. Tompkins was a guest and it didn't get read, but I still think it's a funny question. It's like, damn, remember being a kid. Those were the days. Simpler times. Some days I wish I could go back there, you know? Fewer responsibilities, living day by day, without the weight of the world dragging me down. Just skipping stones in the crick and playing cobs and robbers with the neighborhood kids until well past sundown. No pressure to Do The Big Project at work or make some grandkids for the parents, who are being outwardly patient but you can tell internally that they're not happy that their eldest son is doing so poorly out there, romantically. God, I just want to eat ants on a log again, and not have to look at the widening rust spots forming on the underside of my car, making some kind of metaphor about the state of my life in general. Nothing has that magic shine anymore. The nights are getting longer and the days are getting colder. They're always getting colder. Anyway, excited to hear what you think about Thumbkinm.

Dear hosts, Is it racist to call someone a chowderhead? Also, how DID the movie 88 Minutes with Al Pacino get made? Other podcasts I shall not name have left me wanting.

Is Hayes in the karate outfit is in the coconut video because he wants to be like Goku? Just a thought.

Then you are fated to learn, as did Red Skelton and Lisa Lampanelli before you, that it is lonely at the top.

I've stumbled upon an easy solution, and that is to be wildly inconsistent and occasionally make real stinker posts that nobody enjoys. Doing that bad in this new Like economy really grounds you and makes you appreciate each and every Like you get thereafter. Current mood: blessed

I'm very glad for the new funny friends in this thread in this week. All the smiles they cause are helping take my mind off how much my muscles hurt from all the growing they did this weekend. Oh, no, [chuckles softly] not at the gym.

Not to get too explicit, but I could have listened to the tail end of Andy's call (where he was being made fun of while he tried to not jack off) for a full hour. That... really did something for me.

Dear www.iliza.com, how did you get such a cool website name? Do you have to know somebody on the inside? speaking of white people music, The Unicorns had a short-lived hip hop side project named Th' Corn Gangg, and I have forever been jealous that I didn't think of that name first (and then apply it to something better; they weren't good).

Natasha and Mary were both funny as hell in this ep. Good ep!

The takeaway here is that God Damn It Rory Scovel needs to be on the show again.

IMHO, the first season of "Look Around You" is perfect comedy. But that's not why I'm here. Mr. Duke, have you ever been to the hospital? I haven't in a long time and it seems scary now. Any help is appreciated. -

Oh, I like, uhhh, this: -
Two out of three of Cameron's bar fight songs (Meat Loaf and Celine Dion) were penned by the inimitable Jim Steinman! Following in that mold, we may also include Total Eclipse of the Heart and from the non-classic Streets of Fire, which is unironically one of my favorite songs of all time.

Pete appears to be slowly turning into Pat Francis, going by the image for this episode. Oh, that hair. -
