Guests You Want To Hear On The Wolf Den 2012
Jannephotog replied to DustinMartian's topic in The Wolf Den
Ira Glass would be an ep that would be what dreams are made of. Greg & Jim from Sound Opinions- it is a PRI music based show but I have a feeling more of their audience comes from the podcasting side. -
But hey, atleast it's better & prettier!

I think an honorary Green Circle Award should be given to the PB team. Or maybe they can get the comedy version of the award, the Burnt Sienna Circle Award? We should make it happen. It'd be nuts. (I didn't google it so I'm really hoping this award doesn't really exist somewhere. And if it actually does, T/K/D probably deserve it).

I don't think that the interview was a total ego stroke fest, @ChristopherBlum. Sure, the guys did make it known that Laraine was somewhat of a hero for them, but I don't think they went overboard at all. Maybe SNL lore isn't your bag but from just a historical side of comedy, I know I personally found it quite interesting (and I've probably watched a total of 2 episodes in my entire life). Sometimes there can be a fine line between making guests feel comfortable and gushing too much, but I don't think they passed that line at all. (And the wills thing, it's a sponsorship that they have incorporated into the show. Which they mention in the show. Do what you gotta do to make something, especially when they're putting it out there for free to listen to.) Don't poop the glove, Christopher. All said in love from the country, Jenny

2 things: 1) The interview with Laraine was just awesome. Loved getting to hear about some of the lore. Pretty cool thing was when I was telling my mother about the interview, she just lit up & made the comment that those were the best years of SNL & started naming off some of the other folks who were on the show in that era. I think her pizza & SNL dates with my dad and their friends easily put that in the 'sentimental times' category. Also, it's pretty cool that someone who was relevant to her around the same age that I am, so many years later, is just rad. 2) Poop the Glove. It's going into the lexicon. Never forget.

I have started using "that's nuts" in conversation 2-3x a day recently...as in...the past week or two. Just kinda slipped in there somehow. And when I say it, half the time I giggle a little to myself & think of the show. Thanks for keeping it real, friends.

I just want to say publicly that Alex Choperena is my hero for doing this. ((Also, typing that last name made me think "CHOPPA FOUR!"))

Guest's You'd Like To See Sail Through The Sklar Port
Jannephotog replied to BitterComic's topic in Sklarbro Country
Fred & Carrie would be a great fit for the show (plus I'm kinda obsessing over Portlandia since they're getting it all hyped up for the season 2 launch...watch the first ep online if you haven't seen it yet...it's sooooo good! ok, done gushing). Also would love to hear Pegg on the show, too. And while we're on comedians who have books, Mindy Kaling would be someone who I think would be fun for the podcast. I think we have a good reference of how awesome the ladies are on the air, even when they're not totally sporty (ex. Kathy Griffin). Has Tom Lennon been on yet? If so, I'm forgetting and that's because it was a while back, but he is one of my absolute favorite people to listen to on podcasts. Also, getting to hear another side of Scott Aukerman himself could be a really interesting show, too. Anyone else got ideas...? -
I just want to say that I got kinda concerned when I saw that Jeff was the last one to comment on the lady thread....didn't know if he had a suggestion on which make up brand he digs the most or something. =)

Alex (that started the Spotify playlist of tracks from the show) has started a blog & has the tracks from this ep up on it...ya can read it right over here.
-
Super good stuff. I'm really happy that they did this episode. I certainly love Cox, Nash & Adomian for bringing all of this...so much talent in one place!
-
@dan Is it weird that I've liked Chuck Ragan casually for a few years now (an ex got me into him) but I've never seen what he looks like? Thought so. @Ryan No problem...glad to be a help. =) That Soulja Boy/M&K/AWK track isn't on Spotify but I want to say it was a Converse project maybe...?
-
There's a playlist! (And it is here) There's a Spotify list with most of the tracks! (And it is here)

I think that the Shakes are going to make it....I know they're playing some shows in London & sold it out or were totally going to sell it out. Pretty cool for a little band from the middle of Alabama.
-
Ooh I wanna do mine too! (not in order...) 1 Jens Lekman- "Waiting for Kirsten" 2 The Alabama Shakes- "Hold On" 3 Childish Gambino-"Freaks & Geeks" 4 Nikki Lane- "Gone Gone Gone" 5 Mayer Hawthorne- "A Long Time" And yes, being the music lover I am, this episode made me a very very very happy lady. (good call on the Mayer, too, @Cyrus!)

Julia, you have lived a life, lady. You've been a mascot, you dj & you've been to South America AND I've heard your name on multiple EW shows. Crazy. Oh, and this episode is pretty good . (but I really just wanted to comment on Julia's picture)

I may need in on this.... -
This ep made me feel all warm & fuzzy & for that, it made me quite happy. I'm thankful for how hard you guys work on putting out these shows & appreciate it so much, especially the guys and Caroline on here who don't always get heard. =)
-
This one's one of my fave eps lately..Ioved getting to know about Chris' projects that I've just heard a little bit about and also it was lovely getting to hear the lovely Caroline too. =)
-
I concur, @Charlie. It's awesome when the guys change it up every now & then, especially with some killer live music- and Weird Al was super funny. I knew this one was going to be funny when they announced the guests but it was even better than I had predicted. Holla.
-
Wooo! Sweet stuff, folks....I appreciate the work you all do!

I'm officially a Bamfan. Thanks, bros.

As someone who hasn't had the opportunity to see Paul F. or DLM live, I demand you go.
-
Seriously - there's no music suggestion thread already?
Jannephotog replied to VinsanityV22's topic in Sklarbro Country
Have you seen the spotify playlist of songs from the show? It's got a pretty awesome list of almost everything that's been played on the show... Band that they haven't played, well...they did ages ago, but Mayer Hawthorne's new record, "How Do You Do" is so great and I can't stop listening to it. -
@Touche - were you at any of the Sklars shows recently?
