Why do I get no love for naming The Howdies? I was first. Seriously. You can look it up. -
Episode 65 — Howard the Duck: LIVE!
Solid Muldoon replied to JulyDiaz's topic in How Did This Get Made?
A quick primer on Howard for those too young to remember: Howard first appeared in an issue of Man Thing comics. The fans demanded that he get his own comic and Marvel listened. It was a smash hit. It was HUGE! Howard was on Underoos and Slurpee cups. In any Marvel house ad from the time, Howard was right there next to Spider-Man and the Hulk. Marvel's top artists worked on the book. It was such a huge hit that Disney felt compelled to sue, even though there had been dozens, if not hundreds of other duck characters over the decades that never ruffled their feathers. Then the movie came out and destroyed the property. Nobody could take it seriously anymore. It was so bad that even the back issues which had been listed at fifty bucks or more in the Comics Buyers Guide were now in the quarter bin. -
More Jerry Reed please.

The Bone Zone scene came so long after the opening scene that I didn't recognize either of the guys. My jaw just hit the floor wondering why they threw in a gay sex scene. I was laughing my ass off during the first 20 minutes of the episode because I had no idea why the gang thought that the beach guy was the Dad's lover. Once I got it, it was even funnier. I'm going to listen to this one again tomorrow. Also: Sarah Silverman. Bwah hah ha ha ha!

I just started watching this on You Tube. I'm only ten minutes in and I had to stop and get my bearings. My mind is totally blown! What the hell is the deal with that Mom?!?

I absolutely love it that two of the most macho, testosterone-fueled movies ever star a ballet dancer. (Road House and Red Dawn,) It cracks me up like the idea that the two most-played songs at football games are by two flaming queens.

Your awards should be called the Howdy Awards.

The two songs played most often at sporting events around the country are by Gary Glitter and Queen.

I think Kulap's new name should be Lupe Cordova.

I would totally greenlight a grim and gritty remake of this. Keep it as street-level as Big Fan, cast a couple of guys who know how to play darkly funny , like Patton Oswalt as the box spring king and Louie C.K. as the postman, have the fights and violence have real-world consequences, portray both characters as losing their minds, but Louie on a real suicide spiral, bombing people and killing cops, then have the postman get shot right as the boy hands the toy to him. Right through the toy. This episode was a great pitch meeting. Also really funny. Joe Mande blended smoothly into your mix. He came and he gave without taking.
