    The Beaver

She's worked with both of them, so the ulterior motive likely is one of not burning any bridges, even ones that have burnt at the other end.

    The Beaver

    Jodie Foster's "Beaver."

    AntiChrist (2009)

I'm fairly sure this applies to about 95% of Lars von Trier's filmography.

    Left Behind (2014)

I wonder how the Christians who will supposedly go see this movie would react if they saw Nicolas Cage in "Drive Angry." Heck, it'd be amazing to see somebody sneak in the slow-motion sex gunfight from "Drive Angry" into a screening of "Left Behind." Also, I just love that the two heroes of this Christian story are named Buck Williams and Rayford Steele, which both sound like gay porn star names.
  5. Yes, "Highlander 2" or "Southland Tales" would be good, but let's not forget he was in "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance."

    Jason Wrote Ride Along?

I'd have guessed that if his vision made it to screen unaltered, it would be NC-17 and banned in several countries.

    I, Frankenstein (2014)

It is. I've honestly hesitated to watch the trailer for that. On one hand, it's not a parody, so maybe they actually had to try writing actual jokes and stuff. On the other, their name carries with it the expectation that, even if they aren't just throwing references out like expired Chinese food, their humor will still be misogynistic and repulsive. (The fact that it sounds like it's a "Hangover"-type movie doesn't help with the last adjective.)

  9. I now want to see this happen. Especially if they could get June and Casey Wilson to do the same for "Bride Wars..."

Roger Ebert's zero-star review of this is gold. The choice line:

    Southland Tales (2006)

I've heard that the comics were part of an extended multimedia idea he wanted to use for the film. He also wanted to have websites for the characters that fans could explore. The only problem was that the comics and websites were ready and released long before the film; by the time it went into its limited release, the comics had landed with a thud and the websites were forgotten. Also, someone else from another site I went to said he read the comics, and that they didn't help one damn bit in understanding the film.

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (2011)

Ah. I think I was writing that a little after having seen it, but I don't recall recognizing them as drawings of famous people. (And really, unless they were going for that sort of sticking-out thing, you'd think they could find photos of Stalin and his like.)

    The Wolf of Wall Street

I love the movie, but I agree. Did we really need the five-minute scene where Jonah Hill talks about how he married his cousin? At the same time, I'm kind of glad some of the extraneous stuff wasn't cut. The Lemmon 714 scene is a perfect example; most of it is unnecessary and they could have cut it down to the plot basics (Jordan learns his home phone is tapped), but doing so would mean cutting out all the drug-reaction stuff, Leo's descent down the stairs and into his car, and the analogy between Popeye's spinach and cocaine use. And how could you argue for cutting all that?
  14. In case anybody else is wondering, I looked it up: It's called "Bujingai." Oddly, this makes the David Bowie comparison somewhat more apt. (Admittedly, Bowie wasn't the main character in his game, but still.)
  15. That assumes anybody in the target audience knew what the capital of Brazil is.

    The Wolf of Wall Street

On one hand, I feel like this is a great movie that shouldn't be done on "HDTGM." On the other hand, the Lemmon 714 scene. Also, this may be one of the few films where I think that it's the perfect length and it still could've used some trimming.

    Celtic Pride (with Bill Simmons

There's a Bill Murray interview from a few years back where he marveled that Dan Aykroyd was in this. As he said, "Danny doesn't even know how many players are on a team in basketball."

    The Host (2013)

Movies like this, "Beautiful Creatures" and "Mortal Instruments: City of Bones: Ecks Vs. Sever: Electric Boogaloo" are mentioned in a lot of year-in-review articles talking about how young-adult books aren't automatically box-office gold. I think the main problem is that some people in Hollywood are assuming the thing that made the "Twilight" books popular were that they were young-adult books, and thus it would work for any other young-adult novel. They were that, but they were also popular enough with adults who should've known better, and they also had a lot of fans whose passion for the series was really intense. Whereas really, who cares that much about "Mortal Instruments?" I'm sure it has fans, but it wasn't tearing up sales charts, and if it's not a book people are familiar with, you have to sell it to everyone else with points beyond "It's a lot like 'Twilight!'" (Sadly, if my assumptions are correct, look for "50 Shades of Grey" to do boffo business.)

    Little Nicky

Fun fact: The founder of the Razzies voted for this as the worst movie of 2000, over "Battlefield Earth." (Of course, since the Razzies are awarded by popular vote, "Battlefield Earth" still won.) To quote:

Any Law and Order: SVU episode

I recall seeing that last bit of this episode. As I recall, she was being booed by lesbians who thought she was betraying them by being with a guy. (Which apparently isn't an unheard of sentiment in real life, sadly.)

    Would this not be awesome?

I almost see this as a "Greatest Event in Television History"-type special, with friends and co-stars from their TV shows in the band roles.
  23. Careful where you say that. Rabid fans of the "Portal" series are likely to tear you apart for insinuating it isn't funny. I've only seen banner ads and reviews for these shows, so I can't say whether they're great or not, but both seem like the kind of bad comedy where somebody thinks it's funny that they've dressed up a certain way, and that's all that they need. Or, in the case of "Derek," I can't stop repeating it: I think they only called it "Derek" because "Simple Jack" was taken.

    Nurse 3D (2013)

Sniping EarBear and adding the trailer. It's apparently not embeddable, so... Observations: Katrina Bowden is in this? I wasn't going to see it anyway, but now I'll be wondering if everybody who dies in it is just accidentally killing themselves while paranoid about her. (Seriously, though, "Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil" is an underrated masterpiece.) Usually Paz de la Huerta is a decent-looking woman, but there are shots in this trailer where she literally looks like she's homeless. Naturally, she's apparently supposed to be sexier than Katrina Bowden's character. "I texted him from your phone. As you." Well, yes, that would follow. "You look like my neighbor. You look like this kid that was institutionalized." Ignoring how painfully obvious this is, the way it's said almost sounds like she's comparing a grown woman to a child. So this obviously insane woman is a nurse at a hospital. Don't they do background checks and stuff? I love how there's almost no shots that scream 3D until nearly the end of the trailer. And how one of them uses some of the most obvious CGI this side of an Asylum movie. This will be released on Valentine's Day, because what better date movie is there than one about a murderous nurse with a sexual obsession with another nurse?

    The Arrival

SPOILERS for a 17-year old movie. It's been a long time since I've seen this movie. Wasn't there a twist ending where it turns out the black kid who's been helping him is an alien as well? Was there any explanation as to why the kid was helping Sheen if he was out to stop his species from taking over the world?
