    Coriolanus (2012)

I don't think it'd work. Really, the craziest thing in it is that it uses Shakespearean dialogue in a modern context, and that hasn't been unusual for a while now.
  2. There was a movie from one of the guys involved with the "Saw" movies about a demon coming to earth on 11-11-11, called "11-11-11." It was released on that day, meaning that if you went to the movie literally the day after it came out, you were seeing a movie about an event that could happen on a day that had already passed by.

There's also Nathan Rabin's My Year of Flops review of the movie. My favorite bit from it:

So this was the true inspiration for "Knightboat?"

    Shadow Conspiracy

That little-known part of the US, Europe. (Couldn't resist.) Also, I love how random the cast is. Sheen and Hamilton have already been mentioned, but it also has Donald Sutherland, Stephen Lang, Ben Gazzara, Sam Waterston (as the President, who if IMDb and Wikipedia's cast list is to be trusted, is apparently only referred to as "the President") and Gore Vidal. The man who wrote "Myra Breckinridge" and the initial screenplay for "Caligula" was in a silly conspiracy movie. Who says there are no such things as miracles?

    Pixels (2015)

I think they tend to avoid movies that people they know have worked on, like how since June Diane Raphael was on "New Girl" with Zooey Deschanel, they probably won't cover "The Happening." And since Adam Sandler tends to have comic actors in his movies, the chances of their being friends with somebody in one of them is pretty high.

    Problem Child (1990)

I remember watching the second one a lot as a kid. (I also watched "Super Mario Brothers" a lot as a kid, just in case you need proof that kids will watch just about anything.) I should probably mention that it was a copy taped off of USA, which meant it was edited. Years later, I happened to be on the IMDb page for the movie and saw that there was a subplot that had the kid "videotaping his babysitter and her boyfriend having sex and broadcasting it for the whole neighborhood to see." (Just think, this kid was making revenge porn before that was a thing.) I don't remember much of the movie, but I definitely don't remember that subplot. Oddly, the "alternate versions" page on IMDb doesn't mention that being deleted from the TV version.

Then they brought it back in 2006, released a few crappy horror movies, and dissolved it again.

    Chappie (2015)

I tried picturing an "Aliens Vs. Predator" comic without any humans, just aliens and the Predator. I ended up picturing a bloodier, less humorous "Spy Vs. Spy," which actually seems kind of delightful.

    Chappie (2015)

I'm very tempted to go see it; I liked "District 9" and even "Elysium." But the thing that worries me is how several reviewers have compared Chappie to Jar-Jar Binks. When your title character who you spend most of the movie with is compared to the digital Stepin Fetchit, it's not a good sign. I have to say, the early reports that the movie was going to be a comedy were interesting. I'm almost more curious to see that version of the movie. One last topic for discussion: What does everybody else think of Blomkamp doing an "Alien" movie? The only "Alien" movie I've seen was "Prometheus," which is depressing for all sorts of reasons, so I can't really say what I think. All I can say is that, even though I like that he's a sci-fi director who's willing to tackle big modern issues, I kind of hope he delivers a straight-ahead "Alien" movie and not, say, an allegory for integrating animals into new environments.

    8 mm (1999)

Well, you'd kind of expect nipples in something involving porn. But more importantly, porn and snuff films are all fine and dandy, but superheroes are a deadly serious subject, and heaven forbid somebody make a man dressing like a bat look silly.

    8 mm (1999)

I recall reading that the screenwriter (Andrew Kevin Walker, who previously wrote "Se7en") had written a pretty dark script. The studio wanted him to lighten the tone of the film (because movies about snuff films need to be jolly), and he refused, apparently thinking that like with "Se7en," the director would support him. Unfortunately, the director of "8mm" is Joel Schumacher, who naturally went along with the studio's wishes. Walker practically disowned the film as a result, and refused to watch the final result. Also worth noting: There's a direct-to-video "sequel" that has literally nothing to do with the original. Going by the Wikipedia summary, it doesn't even seem to involve film or video footage, making you wonder why they'd even bother naming it after a film format. The only explanation is that it came out during a boom of direct-to-video sequels, like a sequel to "The Cell" where the main character has psychic powers for some reason. (Needless to say, "8mm 2" was originally made as a stand-alone film and was only changed into a "sequel" after the distributor bought it.)

    Autumn in New York

Wouldn't it be great if there was a movie like this where one of the characters is dying of a terminal disease, which turns out to be contagious and ends up killing their lover as well?

    Kingsman: The Secret Service

Believe it or not, the director has tried to claim that the anal sex thing is empowering, because she's the one offering it to the hero. Then he goes and blames the controversy on "some bloody feminists," so something tells me he's full of shit.

    John Wick (2014)

I get the comparisons to "Crank," but I don't think "John Wick" has that extra oomph of crazy that would make it good for HDTGM. "John Wick" has a few crazy concepts (a hotel exclusively for hitmen, the whole plot being started because a gangster kills John's dog), but it's not quite on the level of "Crank," where every scene has something insane happening. So it's pretty much like the director's other movie that I saw and hated, "Babel."

    C Me Dance

I wish I could link to the Foywonder review of this (his site's been down for way too long). According to his review, it's supposed to be a mild horror movie, but it doesn't realize that the true horror villains in the movie are the heroes. They basically plot to have this girl dance on national TV, since whoever Cs her dance instantly becomes a bible-thumping Christian. No need to come to your religious awakening by your own will; just C her dance, and you're brainwashed into it. It's like if the aliens from "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" were the protagonists.

    Nell (1994)

Not really taking a position on this film one way or another (haven't seen it, don't really plan to), but it's not like the Oscars have chosen flawlessly for their nominations in every category. I mean, Meryl Streep won her third Oscar for a now-mostly-forgotten biopic that got mixed reviews.

    Boxing Helena (1993)

Ah. I was mostly going by the always-reliable Wikipedia (which says that, after the appeal, Basinger settled out of court) and IMDb, so reading that sorts it out. Thanks. As for the HDTGM for lawsuits (which I made up as a joke but still feel compelled to defend), I doubt it would really need to be all about the legalities of each case, just like HDTGM generally isn't about how movies get made.

    A Thousand Words

Usually, I've watched the movies that I post recommendations for this podcast. But in this case, the Rotten Tomatoes 0% rating (at least as of the Tuesday after its release) is more than recommendation enough. Oh, and should I mention that this was filmed back in 2008? (Although there were apparently reshoots in 2011, the Rotten Tomatoes consensus that the jokes are dated indicates it didn't help much.) Honestly, almost any post-"Nutty Professor" Eddie Murphy comedy seems worthy of this show.

    Hard Rain (1998)

There was also the reveal near the end of "Wanted," which I'd consider a spoiler if it weren't for the fact that "Wanted" was terrible.

My review of the film, even though I have not seen it and probably never will: Not enough lip-biting.

    Myra Breckinridge (1970)

Some really astonishing stuff about the production: In addition to the tension between Raquel Welch and Mae West, apparently the director spent more time praising West than Welch. Keep in mind that at the time of production, Welch was considered one of the world's top sex symbols, while Mae West looked less like she had come out retirement for the film than like she had been exhumed for it. Further, the director did an interview with some magazine where he made insulting comments about cast member John Huston. Keep in mind, the director was an inexperienced newbie, and the man he was insulting had at that point directed "The Maltese Falcon," "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre," "The African Queen," "The Asphalt Jungle" and "The Night of the Iguana," among others. As a result, Huston waited until a day that his contract specified he could walk off the film without penalty and did so, telling them they'd never cut the film together. What makes the film itself astonishing is when you compare it to the novel (which I haven't read, nor have I seen the movie). The novel has a third-act twist that I'd be reluctant to ruin if it weren't nearly fifty years old: Myra is actually Myron after a sex change. The movie opens with Myron about to have the sex change, which makes the scene where she reveals the truth to other characters fairly useless. And that's probably one of the more understandable changes...

    Seventh Son (2015)

So it consists of people screwing around in dungeons and occasionally remembering that there was a plot they were supposed to be involved in?
