New studio sounds a bit echo-y, no?

Congratulations to you both, June and Paul. And that "fan" email is really delusional and narcissistic. Best not to give those sort of folks the attention/validation they are looking for. If there is a longer HDTGM hiatus, maybe a Limabugh-style, solo Mantzoukas rant-cast would fill the void.

Yep. It does work on Soundcloud, not on iTunes. Lets blame Cody.

Announcing "U Talkin' U2 To Me?"!
ben mcd replied to Gabe Danon's topic in U Talkin' Talking Heads 2 My Talking Head
Just the logo and name made me laugh out loud, awkwardly, at my desk. (but Scott, seriously, don't let U2 get in the way of the Phish show edits). -
Voting was difficult again this year, but Half a Score was the standout episode for me.

Yes, that was Braunohler's plot idea for a turkey movie. The actual movie is about time traveling turkeys (?)

The last bar of Bolero gets really menacing and dissonant; wonder what is running through a ladies head when it changes to that and then, shortly after, Howard flips the tape to start it at the beginning again. Want to talk about shuffle sabotage, try keeping it going when cats meowing "Feliz Navidad" plays randomly mid moment.

Episode 252 — The Creeeeeeepy Halloween Special
ben mcd replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
I love how Paul Rust develops about 10% of a character and then commits 100% to it.- 109 replies

This should be preaching to the choir, but the Go Bayside episode Howard did a month ago, where he laments over the life and career of the Saved by the Bell director, is one of the funniest podcast episodes I've ever heard. Plus you get to hear some Skokie Bennion Jr material.
-
Saw this in the theater, too, and was equally confused by it. Cool looking, but not funny. In that category and time of directors who aren't Tim Burton trying to go hyper-stylized like Tim Burton and failing on content (Spielberg's Hook, Beatty's Dick Tracy). BTW, 1992 was a nuts year for movies.

The day Howard taught me an actual vocabulary word.

Is this where I'm supposed to pedantically correct your punctuation or attack your tumblr as some sort of non-sequiturial one-upmanship? Or can we get back to the matter at hand, the societal importance of the VMAs. Robin Thicke's suit was CLEARLY appropriating Beetlejuice culture. Lets get 'em.
-
Perhaps I just misunderstood. Could you explain your context of "Yep, black people are the "real" racists, aren't they? "
-
You passive-aggressively played the race card (I'm sure that's going to be "Shariq'd") to try and shut me up about how ridiculously unimportant this entire incident is. Weak. And if you haven't noticed, more than a few people aren't really wanting to engage you in this, or many other things, because of how monotone and self-righteous you come off. I mean, shit, this is really where you take it every time someone disagrees with you?
-
Whatever reach-tastic ad hominem you need to float your joyless boat, Shariq...
-
If I could, I would do it just to see how you would spin it as the most racist thing that ever happened.
-
Because my take is I don't give a shit about Miley Cyrus, the VMAs or a manufactured controversy to make either of the two things seem relevant. Not the first time, nor will it be the last, that a popstar appropriates a subculture or has an embarrassing moment, but I could really care less. But don't let junk media tell you otherwise: this is important!
-
Okay, player. But really, this has been going on for a long time, the VMAs were just the train wreck on the icing on the cake on top of the iceberg. All the reaction gifs from the show, I would hope any thought of shock or disgust would be about even being there and pretending like MTV still matters to music.
-
Watched it, too. The story of Atlas (?), the asocial gibbon, was really sad.
-
Only an hour in, but this is great. A two hour "Howard's Beliefs" maybe once every month with a willing passenger like Stard would be wonderful.
-
Tyler Perry shouldn't be off limits for the show, but this particular movie would/should devolve into an anger fest (I imagine) about the "twist" ending. And rightfully so. How about waiting for the next Madea movie "Ernest Saves Madea's Christmas", complete with Larry the Cableguy? Noway that can't be fun-bad rather than evil-bad.

Thunder Levin really hates Los Angelenos.

There was b-roll of the Arlington police directing traffic when they left Fins. Also, Tara Reid had an obvious shake when she took that first call. Anyone else catch that?

Yet it's from the standpoint that the molester van owner is really cool.
