  1. CORRECTION: Affleck wasn't nominated in the Best Director category for the Academy Awards, which is exactly why "Argo" will win Best PICTURE as an apology/face-saving move. Affleck has been cleaning up and winning every OTHER directing award, which makes the Academy look like assholes for getting it so, so wrong. That's a pretty damn good consolation prize.

And yet the "Ben Affleck is emotionally torn and drinking a bottle of whiskey in his hotel room while mugging out the window" scene would be perfectly at home in any other HDTGM film. ACTING!

  2. Gore had horrible intentions and an over-inflated view of himself; Steve-O seemed at least genuine (if verbose) and just not aware of what the show normally is. If you are of the iPhone listening set like myself, this is a prime episode for the Howard "double speed" playback option. There are some good moments in there, just have to quickly get past the rambling.

On the topic of Chris Gore... I get bummed every time I search who charted on itunes and his podcast comes up because they of the way his episode was tagged. Someone needs to fix that.

It's not Earwolf or Whooch's fault, it's how Gore tags his own lame "show" where he just edits his appearances on other people's podcasts into a streamlined bit of shit. That way he even shows up in the results of other people's searches. Even his iTunes presence is parasitic and skeevy.

  4. It is pretty obvious who the worst guest ever was, and he managed to be the worst across multiple earwolf shows. The fear to say his name must be because he's either in the critic-ing game or some Beetlejuice type of situation. Darken the Earwolf doorstep no more.

  5. Squarepusher is less a band and more a recording persona of Tom Jenkinson, mentally talented musician, classically trained bassist and drum player and mathematical savant. Try this oldie but goodie. And recorded and programmed on relatively ancient, custom gear:

And yes, yes, yes: Howard needs a travel show. Maybe a different guest companion each week. Constantly live mic'd, documentary style, with no narration. Basically, rip off Karl Pilkington but with a knowingly comedic bent.

  6. While it would have been interesting had Jermaine Jackson been an original MTV VJ, and it may have seemed like he was an employee given the amount of times the "Can You Feel It" video played, I believe Scott meant JJ Jackson, the most upbeat of the original MTV lineup.

Just needed to clear that up for some reason.

I disagree; Aaron doesn't really force his opinion out there, but he is the only person of "faith" in the pod and is, fairly or unfairly, looked to to provide that perspective. While I identify with the rest of the pod from a theological perspective, I appreciate having someone there to correct misconceptions or offer how __________ is reconcilable with those that are "believers". It is possibly unfortunate that Mormonism is as "unique" and nuanced as it is compared to plain-vanilla Christianity, but I think that adds to the possible comedic value. Also, (no offense if you're reading this, Aaron) he doesn't do that great of a job articulating really large theological ideas, which I find amusing and benign rather than "proselytizing".

Plus, that was a great Son-in-Law pull.
