Yes! Everybody walk the dinosaur!

Das Racist is pronounced like "that's" racist, not like Das Boot. Howard might like 'em, they have a couple really good mixtapes.

I liked this better than Andy's first appearance. I don't ilke it so much when he goes into riff machine/Jerry Lewis impression mode. Fun episode though, seemed like Howard and Kulap were having a good time. I do wish you wouldn't tell the guests "this chart may or may not be about you," it's more fun when they get it partway through.

Episode 10.3 — The Final Challenge: Day 3
oldschoolways replied to admin's topic in The Earwolf Challenge
Congratulations to Totally Laime. I would've voted for TLDDC, but TL was one of the strongest competitors throughout. You can't expect your favorite to win every reality/competition show. The Challenge was definitely appointment listening for me too, I hope it runs again. I enjoyed the ability to sample different podcasts, see how they rolled with the punches, and hear notes from some of the best podcasters working today. Matt Besser was good and got even better, but often a given week's quality was heavily determined by the guest judges (personally I really enjoyed the Jimmy Pardo, Maron/Kremer, and Thorn/Tompkins weeks). That's not meant as a slam on other guest judges, and today was an interesting one for hearing Jeff and Scott talk about the criteria and respond to some of the criticism, I felt a lot of nervous tension when the winner was announced. Anyway I enjoyed the show and hope it runs again. -

Wow, this really blew up. Scott and Jeff, and Matt, I really enjoy the challenge, it's one of the few podcasts I listen to as soon as I download. I'm usually on the same page with the judges, I'm honestly puzzled by the people on here who are enraged, saying the contest is rigged or there's a conspiracy. I don't think Totally Laime deserved to win this week, but I don't think they've gotten a pass either. The fact that some of the judges have appeared on Totally Laime or on TLDDC shows that...those are good podcasts who already get good guests in the podcast-world. No more, no less. Left-Handed Radio was nailing it, I was really impressed by what they had done in the past few challenges, but this week's submission was just not funny. Some of the criticism they got was unfair (e.g. not referencing Zach not showing up), and they probably would've been better off using a sketch that was pre-written, but the one they went with wasn't funny, so I think giving them a pass this week would've been unfair to the other contestants. TLDDC should've won this week, but they're in the finals, now we'll see what happens. For what it's worth, I subscribed to Left-Handed, a monthly sketch podcast at the quality they've been producing lately sounds great to me. I like this show a lot and sincerely hope the principals behind it are taking some of the extra-angry criticism with a grain or three of salt.

More international charts and maybe comic books for Kulap
oldschoolways posted a topic in Listener Chart Submissions
The Japan iTunes chart was so hilarious, I'm betting other countries have ridiculous novelty songs on their top 5's too. And comic books would be right in Kulap's wheelhouse and break up the movies/music a little bit. -
Yeah I agree with the "singing is not just singing" contingent. A reality competition show has to push the contestants out of their comfort zones at times, it's just the nature of the beast. I agree with the judges' decision this week. The Fort had a funny idea but then when it just became a vehicle for "I rufied your wife/your wife is fat," well, pass. I'm glad Totally Laime gets another chance, clearly not their best week but they've had a lot of good ones in previous weeks. Very interested to see what happens from here on out. I'm expecting the final 3 to be Little Dum Dum Club, Left Handed Radio, and Totally Laime.

Episode 5.2 — Using the Guest: Day 2
oldschoolways replied to admin's topic in The Earwolf Challenge
I felt that Howard and Maron were both tough but fair (I gotta say I really enjoy every Tuesday finding out who the guest judges will be, all pairings have been good so far but this was maybe the best), they were honest about what was confusing, and what just wasn't funny. For me personally, this week my favorites were Little Dum Dum Club and Left Handed Radio. LHR's sketch wasn't perfect, in a way it peaked before the end, but it was still well-done, seemed to be in the guest's wheelhouse, and had some funny moments. Little Dum Dum Club seem to have a very firm handle on how to do funny banter, every time Matt calls them that comes through too. I like Totally Laime but this wasn't their best week. If I had to bet on who goes home this time, either F Plus or TV Zombies. The sound quality on Zombies bothers the judges, I just don't have an interest in sci-fi TV and while I can get over the sound quality, I can't get over the timing issues. F Plus I thought was somewhat funny but I agree it was confusing and the whole "no no, you can't keep saying that" seemed contrived. I see what people mean about Gelman being similar, but there's something to the fact that Gelman is doing original material, and the whole 'stop it'/"banned from the show" is funnier when it's drawn out over a longer time frame.
