Bumping this thread up, because yes, this movie is beyond crazy. The ver premise is flawed, stupid, and insulting. This feels like a vanity project for Gerard. Like c'mon, man, you're 40+ and you think people are going to think you go out with sixteen-year-olds? It's fucking crazy. Also, I bet he walked around the set with his graying chest hairs sticking out trying to "teach" Heigel the "ways of love" or whatever French nonsense game he was putting down.

Women will burn theaters down if that happens. I'm actually sort of interested in how they handle the nudity and sex scenes. Will it still cater to the male gaze due to the censors or will it cater to the -- I think mostly -- female audience they're trying to bring in.

Yes! It seems difficult to gauge but is she a big star in France? Both of those movies belong on Le Skinamax than a regular theatre. But I do think that is a thing with French films. There was another movie with Gérard Depardieu where his sixteen-year-old daughter, played by Kathreen Hiegel, convinces everyone at a resort that he is actually her lover. What the fuck?! Get your old ass outta here! NO ONE believes that you, Crusty Gerard, is going out with her. First, she's a minor and second, you're crusty and old. Actually...if somone hasn't already nominated that on the forums, I'm gonna add it. Just thinking about it makes me shake my head; the very premise of the movie is beyond stupid.

If they are going to do foreign movies, they should start with anything that Isabelle Huppert has starred in her native France. I liked her in I Heart Huckabees and went on Netfilx to see what else she has done. One movie was about a repressed piano teacher who is into S & M. The other movie is about a neglectful mother who almost (??) has sex with her son, but definitely watches him have sex at some point. Actually, any French movie will do if you want see paraphillias on full display.

No problem, man, I do appreciate it. Yeah, Cotton Comes to Harlem is really good. I really have a fondness for Uptown Saturday Night and Let's Do It Again. I think out all of the blaxpolitation movies, those were the least problematic, probably due to Cosby's strong hand in production.

Primary is not staffed by crypto racists. It just proof that despite what deniers like you would have me to believe -- that racist practices only come from .0000000000001% of the white population -- that is a very widespread problem. Basically, education is staffed by people who are not going to give any breaks to white children, even for the same infractions. It is because the narrative of this country says that a white male's life is the most important thing on Earth and must be protected and nurtured. Meanwhile, the country says minority lives are not that important. That's why you can a random man gun down a black teen in Florida and everyone from the police to the district attorney all write it off. "He was probably up to no good anyway," they'd say. Where did those attitudes and assumptions come from? The media? Other white people? The racism fairy? All I know is that it exists and these are the manifestations of it.

Wow! Well, everyone has an opinion. There is something positive when you first get a representation of you being powerful and the hero when for a long time you have been ignored. But just like blaxpolitation movies -- which I have a fondness for -- there's a downside when that representation is still couched around narrow and negative paradigms. But Anelique's review aside, this is a HDTGM-worthy movie; good actors in shitty roles, and bad actors in bad roles.

No, I don't. But based on your posts, it seems that pointing out racist acts is being racist to white people. Oh shit! Are those Lifetime Movies? I think she made another misstep in her career by being in the Beverly Hillbillies. If you look at her IMDB, that one sort of knocked her off of the big screen a long time.

She probably thought she had hit the jackpot by being in a Lucas film. He was the king of the early 80s, and Star Wars already proved he had a gift for sci-fi, so she figured, "why the hell not?" Just her luck that she would end up in, not only one of shittiest Lucas films, but one of the shittiest films of all time.

Didn't he assault that girl while making Chinatown or soon thereafter?
