Episode 14 β Staind Glass
action52 replied to JulyDiaz's topic in U Talkin' Talking Heads 2 My Talking Head
If you're 35 minutes in, that means you've already heard the part where Todd says how he never reads comments or message boards relating to himself because he hates the negativity, then Scott says how glad he is that the community for this show had been so positive and supportive. And yet you still felt this would be an appropriate thing to say... Well, I guess you proved Todd's advice right.- 280 replies

Episode 288 β Back to Barz, Back to Reality
action52 replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
I can definitely agree that it was too PFT heavy last year. Of course I love the guy, but give attention to some of the other great comedians already, right? -

I actually prefer Sanz on Improv 4 Humans. Not that his characters aren't funny on CBB, but for me they tend to be hilarious out of the gate but then I find myself getting confused as everything gets so complicated. Sometimes my mind drifts. Whereas with Improv 4 Humans it's just lots of crazy characters rapidfire so I find myself laughing a lot more. I hope this doesn't come across as negative--just saying why although I think Sanz is funny on CBB, he isn't quite top 10 material. I'm sorry, it's just that the bar is set so high by everyone else! I actually do laugh a lot when Sanz is on, it's just the difference between laughing a lot and spending almost the whole episode laughing so hard I feel like I'm going to pass out. The one exception, though, was Nubile Agape which did have me cracking up almost constantly. -
10 minutes in, and already loving it. This episode has some of the best background Sklar brother disapproving looks yet!

Are Foo talkin' U2 to me? Car, you talkin' U2 to me? -
As in, they like them to have a pattern of being close to their owner's skin color? Although to be honest, it might not be racism in this case. Definitely, I don't think there's any racism in the old European belief that black dogs and cats are evil. This dates back to a time when most Europenas probably didn't even know darker-skinned humans exist. Obviously the connotations of evil come from the fact that most people find night and darkness scary, and are more likely to be afraid of animals that can creep up on them unseen in the night. If anything, the racism is in perceiving people from Africa as being "black" in the first place (as opposed to, say, brown). It's all about taking the established negative connotations of the color black and pushing the association onto other groups of people. Notice how racist depictions always try to make them as jet black as possible. With people adopting dogs and cats now, though, it's possible that there may be racist undertones to people not wanting black pets. But whatever association would have to be very subtle. It never even occured to me until now that people would even associate black dogs with black people. It seems weird to me because, you know, actual black people are a totally different color. And I hadn't heard about this until now. It is food for thought, though.

Listening to Kulap and Naomi complain about the Scotts would be wonderful. I want this to happen almost as much as I want the Staind Glass episode to happen. -
Episode 34 β The 11 Nations of America?
action52 replied to JulyDiaz's topic in The Cracked Podcast
I agree that the "11 nations" theory makes sense in a lot of ways but that it overstates the significance. I would see it more as a base on which American subcultures are laid down upon, and not as basically what defines every subculture. -

First of all, congrats.

Not really, which is why Scott and Shane were so confused at first. But then she said she eats chili cheese Fritos, and those do smell pretty bad. They taste good, but the smell is very weird.

Episode 12 β Slowing It Down 2
action52 replied to JulyDiaz's topic in U Talkin' Talking Heads 2 My Talking Head
I wouldn't say I like this one better, but it definitely has one thing over Analyze Phish: They established they would be talking about non-U2 topics from the get-go. So all the obnoxious U2 fans who get annoyed by any kind of non-U2 conversation just listened, left a bad itunes review, and realized this podcast was not for them. Now Scott and Scott can just do whatever the hell they want, and not be bombarded by people throwing a shitfit like Harris got bombarded by Phish fans after they decided to vary the format for a couple episodes. -

Thank you so much Sark! It's been a great run, and despite the "shitty DM" joking we all know you are awesome! (Well maybe slightly shitty regarding NPCs, heh heh.) Really, though, I can't express my appreciation enough! This has been such a fun campaign, filled with cool plot twists and so many laughs. Your podcast has been both entertaining and inspirational. Thank you so much for everything till now, and I am looking forward to future podcasts so much!

Oh Jesus, Tim's screaming had me laughing so hard I almost passed out. "I went Miles Davis on their ass this week!" -
I agree with HunterJE. Both about Sir Richard, and almost being glad he wasn't around to see this, and about the "coincidence" of the old man showing up. It didn't strike me as THAT big a coincidence, because you had to figure he would be coming because he knew they were on the planet. He certainly seemed to be expecting them. Only thing is, why does he seem so shocked that they started destroying his ship like that?

Womp it up! I'm glad to see it's just the two of them. Bringing in everybody from the "Womplerverse" for mega-episodes is fun, but it's good to get back to the basics sometimes. Wompler and Listler are where it's really at.

I'm guessing that a good number of the dwarf-rats were prepared enough to get out into the open. At least the ones who supported our party probably got out. If they didn't, well, I guess they should have had a little more faith, ha ha.
