Seriously, this paired with A View To A Kill is like a dream HDGTM lineup.

I also love this movie but it absolutely deserves to be done. And good call on Michelle Meyrink (the nerdy love interest), she was 23 when this movie came out and Gabriel Jarett was 15. So yeah, the romantic chemistry there is a little...off.

Poor Rutger Hauer, he really deserved to be in better stuff. This is the guy that improvised his death scene in Blade Runner for cryin' out loud.

Sounds like Rob Zombie's creative process. -
None of the sequels have any of the charm of the original, imo. Typical direct-to-video fare.

Natasha's accent was all over the five boroughs, but I think it was just a combination of her playing along as well as being a bit of a weirdo (an extremely fun and entertaining weirdo, mind you). PFT made several references to it over the course of the episode. But I'm sure being an actress plays into it as well, as I've seen interviews with her where it's crazy thick and others where you can barely hear it. Gillian Anderson does a similar thing, where sometimes she's speaking in an English accent and other times she sounds like she's from the midwest. I thought Mary was great. I kept thinking the whole 'Yeeeeeeeaaaaaaaassss' schtick was going to get old but it just became increasingly funny to me. I hope to see her return (both the comedian and the charac).

Normally I'd say a 'sidequel' featuring none of the original players or directors is a bad sign, but since we're talking about Skyline I'm going to go with ' a step in the right direction'.

After painting a room with all the windows shut I was given visions of the future and saw the plot summary for God's Not Dead Part VIII: Our hero Josh Wheaton - now an 87-year-old senior with dementia - has just been checked into the Shady Acres Retirement Community. Upon arriving, he immediately encounters head nurse Evel Persecutoria, a puppy-murderer who forces all new patients to sign a declaration saying, 'God is dead and killing puppies is great' in order to receive medical care. Josh vaguely recalls something similar happening before, and because he can't actually remember his name he refuses to sign. This results in President Atheismo Obamacare III calling for a televised debate between Josh and Nurse Evel. After approaching the podium, Josh immediately yells out, 'WHERE AM I?', poops himself, and dies. Nurse Evel feels sorry for him and is going to attempt resuscitation but is subsequently crushed by a falling stage light (this is dramatic irony, as earlier in the story she gives a speech about how stage lights disprove God). Josh then awakes in heaven, where he's disappointed to see the woman with cancer from the first movie. He immediately files a complaint with the nearest administrative angel, who explains that they all felt that she had gone through enough, what with the cancer and the Dean Cain dating and the Duck Dynasty marathons.

I'm not watching this and I definitely wouldn't expect the team to, either, but we really need to discuss these subplots: I'm going to assume watching so much Duck Dynasty is what gave her the cancer, and they've just wildly misinterpreted it as God's punishment.

Podcast is always great so I can't agree there (full disclosure - I wanted them to do Temptation because it's so completely insane), but I do agree with Lando that it would be nice if FYI saw some actual use. I know Shariq & Shannon & others put a lot of effort into it and it seems a shame to waste it. But the trio have preferences too and there are probably some movies we've recommended where they just go, 'Uhhh no, I'm not sitting through that'.

I'm guessing you'll have to wait a month, because the 21st is probably the Halloween ep.

I think if we were going to do one of these I'd recommend the third one. It's basically just Pitch Black 2: Pitch Blackier. Plus I think June would have a lot to say about the epic levels of misogyny.

HDTGM Special Edition: Gotham pilot
seanotron replied to rootbeercomics.com's topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
It had problems but I really didn't think it was HDTGM levels of badness. -
I will say I laughed every time the Dauntless kids came on screen, because the entire faction seemed to be based on jumping off or onto things while pumping their fists in the air.

Dan, you can't tease us with this lineup unless you're prepared to deliver.

It sounds like Engineer Cody Sam is catching Engineer Cody Cody disease. We need to get Engineer Brett to safety before it's too late!

OMG THIS IS AMAZING If Rust didn't know about this, it's the most insane coincidence ever.

Patrick Stewart can do no wrong, yet this movie IS terrible. I think the only way to resolve this moment of cognitive dissonance is to declare this movie non-canonical.

I'm still holding out hope for the homoerotic delight that is A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2. -
I do not think you remember this movie very well.

This just seemed like it was going to be a joke-y version of The Human Centipede, which sounds like something no one needed ever.
