Maybe Gooby is the first of a 3-part film trilogy that ends with The Shining. We're just missing the really dark 2nd chapter where everything goes wrong for Gooby and he eventually arrives at The Overlook Hotel where he's forced to give blow jobs to strangers in order to sustain his pricey heroin habit.
-
Coltrane is just the voice of Gooby, so at least I don't have to feel secondhand embarrassment at the thought of him wearing that stupid costume.
-
I think it's just as well. It really is a very boring movie.

Hey Jarry, just an FYI but your GIF is huuuuge. You need to make them under 1 MB to work.

Oh Canada! I have to assume Robbie was just bored between filming Harry Potter movies and needed something to do.

Transformers: Age of Extinction

I'm sure he somehow feels ages of consent are just 'Big Government' intruding into our personal lives. -
Forget it Jake, it's night beach.

I actually liked Prometheus despite its flaws, so I can't hold that one completely against him. I did notice Ridley is keeping with tradition by casting no actual Egyptians or Jews in his movie about Egyptians and Jews. Seriously, going through the cast list I swear there must have been a directive to cast every nationality BUT Egyptians and Jews. Australians? Check. Indian? Check. Armenian? Check. Sicilian? Check. Spanish? Check. Norwegian? Check. Palestinian? Check. Egyptian...eh, what do we need Egyptian for?
-
I dunno, based on Kingdom of Heaven I think Sir Ridley could give us something interesting with this. It certainly couldn't be as bad as Noah.

I love Howard despite the fact that his methods of movie watching offend my very soul.

I kind of feel like the guests have just not been as game lately? Like, we are in desperate need of a visit from STEVEN. BRODY. STEVENS. And Zouks! And Jessica St Clair. HIGH ENERGY

If you remove the 's' from 'http' it should post in the comment. Oh man, The Aquabats! I haven't listened to one of their songs in forever.
-
Of course! I was hoping for more Chartist participation.

Oh Dick Stroke, I expected so much more from you.

Scott was supposed to direct it after De Laurentiis got the rights away from Jodoworsky, but he said the process of writing the script was really rough so he backed off of it in order to do Blade Runner. I think his older brother died around the same time, so that had something to do with it. I would totally buy that book! Also, can we talk about the fact that Jodoworsky is 85 but looks maybe 65? His enthusiasm must keep him young.

Jodorowsky's Dune is indeed a great documentary. He's a delightful nutter and his movie (despite claims by his cohorts during the doc) could never, EVER have been made, but it's totally fascinating stuff. It's one of those things that's more fun to imagine than it probably would have been to watch. We can still thank him for assembling that team, since they eventually gave us stuff like Alien, Blade Runner, etc. I did feel bad for him because you get the sense he's still really hurt that it didn't happen.

It was definitely a mess. My biggest beef was the ending. Most of these kinds of movies are cautionary tales of some kind, but the ending to this seemed to say, 'Stop being so worried, when grey goo takes over the world just let it absorb you and it will all be fine'. The entire movie suggested we could never actually know if AI Johnny was the 'real' Johnny, but then at the last minute his girlfriend decides he was the real Johnny after all because of...uhhh...reasons. In a way, it's the most pro-science, pro-transhumanism movie I've ever seen (out of mainstream Hollywood, at any rate). But boy, if you thought Prometheus had the dumbest smart people ever, you were wrong. These are, hands-down, the dumbest smart people ever.
