Nundercover kind of sounds like 'Nuns on the Run'
seanotron replied to BevanMorgan's topic in How Did This Get Made?
Paul already brought up this movie in the Hudson Hawk episode where they first discuss Nundercover. OBJECTION IS SUSTAINED! -
This complaint has been popping up since the beginning of the show. If you want to see an especially heated exchange about it, check out the Abduction thread. The 'talking over each other' is just part and parcel to the show. Honestly, I see it as a positive thing, because it shows how excited they are to dive into the discussion. I really think everyone is actually pretty good about ceding the floor when it gets to be too much.

Episode 3 — The Joshua Tree
seanotron replied to JulyDiaz's topic in U Talkin' Talking Heads 2 My Talking Head
I never found Scritti Polliti *that* terrible, but they have always sounded like a weird collab between Erasure & Culture Club that misfired. I think 'Perfect Way' is their biggest hit and even that sounds kind of like a b-side. -
Oh and here's a link to an article talking about the Bit Coin thing Howard was talking about. http://www.forbes.com/sites/kellyphillipserb/2013/11/30/from-treasure-to-trash-man-tosses-out-bitcoin-wallet-on-hard-drive-worth-9-million/ I don't know how I'd feel knowing I accidentally threw away $9 million.

Damn I love that Iggy Azalea & Charli XCX song. It's kind of the anti-Royals. The video is great, too.

I actually appreciated this one for going long since most recent eps have been 40-45 mins. I do miss the really long episodes from the early days, but I figure everyone is probably too busy to do those these days (esp with Kulap working on her documentary).

Congrats Paul & June! Don't worry about the baby's exposure to bad movies, I was exposed to terrible movies right out of the womb thanks to my mom, and I turned out just fine. Just fine. JUST FINE.

Alice was an awesome guest and she fit the energy of the show perfectly. Always enjoy Whooch, but this one was a standout. Hope we see more of Bruce Springsteen in the future!

I saw this in theaters, and I remember some of my friends falling asleep halfway through. I envied them, really. Like I said before, it's more boring than anything else. Half-formed ideas that don't really go anywhere. Also, this was that point in the early 90s where Jeanne Tripplehorn was kind of a sex symbol, I guess? The 90s were weird.

*SPOILERS and stuff but seriously who cares it was Pompeii for goodness sake I was roped into seeing Pompeii, and I have to say it was at least entertainingly awful. The two leads were dull as dishwater so I couldn't really tell you whether they were trying or not, but the absolute black hole of bad acting at the center of that movie is Kiefer Sutherland. If you're looking to cast someone as the embodiment of upper-class aristocracy, you don't go for Kiefer. Kiefer is always the wrong answer. I have to assume they wanted Donald Sutherland because he can totally pull this kind of thing off, but he was probably like, 'Look, I've got Hunger Games money, I don't need this shit.' Seriously, Kiefer Sutherland is SO BAD YOU GUYS OMG. He feels like he's been dropped in from a community theater production of Shakespeare in the Park. This movie also manages to pull off horror movie trope #12 - kill all your black characters. I was hoping it was going to subvert it, because it seemed like they were going to let Adewale live, but then they killed him and I lost my mind. But then they kind of made up for it in the end by killing the dull-as-dishwater leads. Speaking of which, I have to hand it to Adewale, that guy has been in some seriously terrible movies but he never phones it in.

The key word there is 'unintentionally'. The actual content is kind of aggressively anti-gay. But what else should one expect from a movie based on a Frank Miller comic?

Episode 2 — The Unforgettable Fire

I love Kulap, but I can't get behind not liking the Pet Shop Boys. That is a crime punishable by...uhhh...well I think there's chanting involved and Kylie Minogue comes to your house and you have to wear lame' short shorts...it's rough, is what I'm saying. -
In honour of "A Night of Hulkamania", I present, "The Lies of Hulkmania".

If by 'ridiculed and laughed at' you mean 'enthusiastically agreed with' then yes. -
Since it's a sequel I'm excited to see how they manage to ramp up the action. And by action I mean racism & homophobia.

I think sometimes we, as viewers, underestimate our unflinching ability as human beings to do stupid things under duress. Admittedly, sometimes that show has had people doing unbelievably stupid things that no person would ever do (*cough* Lori's infamous 'I have to swerve and crash my car to avoid the emptiness in the empty road' *cough*). Still, I'm totally glad I stuck with it because a lot of the back half of season 3 (like 'Clear') and pretty much all of season 4 have been gold thus far.

Episode 1 — From Boy to Under a Blood Red Sky
seanotron replied to JulyDiaz's topic in U Talkin' Talking Heads 2 My Talking Head
People's attitudes toward U2 are pretty much the same in the UK as they are anywhere else - lots of people like them, lots of people don't. Their albums all go to #1 there and they headlines festivals all the time, so clearly there's no universal consensus on them being horrible or wonderful. -

This is one of the only bits I remember from this movie, but I still giggle

Howard, you should go back to Walking Dead. Season 4 has been on fire. They really managed to right the ship.

There is no good excuse to watch Robocop 3. Other than self-torture.
