Here's a mass gorilla suicide gif for you. Why? Because those bastards ate my sesame cake, that's why.

I wouldn't put it passed this screenplay to be so clumsy with exposition, but if they were currently engaged that would be a very weird way of putting it. I'd think she'd say, 'That's my fiance!' or 'That's my boyfriend you're talking about!' instead of 'Hey, I almost married that man that is probably dead now because we are engaged!'

Grant Heslov isn't the guy with Bruce Campbell in the beginning though, that's Taylor Nichols. So presumably it was Taylor Nichols' eyeball.

Also, did I miss it or was there no discussion about Amy's constant requests to be tickled?

Hobgoblins! Hobgoblins! What do you do with those Hobgoblins? They're over here! They're over there! Those darn Hobgoblins are everywhere!

    Episode 73 — Congo

Monster a Go Go is probably too old to suggest, but it is hilariously bad and has one of the best/worst twist endings ever. I'd suggest Hobgoblins (because it supplies a never-ending supply of WTF moments) and Virus.

Fellow HDTGMers, I implore you to vote for Halloween 3. It has been scientifically proven that it is next-level bonkers.

    Episode 73 — Congo

The basic premise is the same (lost city with gorillas) but they changed pretty much everything else. No talking Amy, the gray gorillas are basically neanderthals in the book, there are no death ray lasers, etc.

You're right, for some reason I was thinking they said they were in Kenya, but duh, that movie is called Congo, Sean. CONGO. So yeah, I'm sure he's just supposed to be British.

    Episode 72.5 — Minisode 72.5

Giving Ernie the benefit of the doubt, a lot of Kenyans do have a mix of British & Swahili accents, and I *think* that's what he was trying to do.

del Toro has great enthusiasm for weird stuff and a seemingly encyclopedic knowledge of it. I

This movie taught me that telecommunications technology can be very easily adapted into a laser death ray. Because uhhh blue diamonds.

    Episode 148.5 — 10/4/13 TWO CHARTED 87

I honestly haven't watched regularly for a decade. Sometimes when they have an interesting guest host or musical act I'll make a point to watch, but otherwise it's not something I go out of my way to see. And even then, I always forget the cardinal rule of musical guests on SNL, which is that they will always sound terrible, no matter how good they actually are. I also think part of it is a generational thing. Because it's a zeitgeist-y kind of thing you sort of attach to it at a certain age, and it's must-see TV, but then casts change out and you get older and it's suddenly not as appealing. It's the same thing with The Simpsons. It's going into it's 25th season, despite the fact that I have personally found it kind of unwatchable for at least the last 14 years. But clearly a lot of other people like it and get something out of it. Those same people would probably find the early seasons I love poorly animated, slow plot-wise, and they'd probably think the voices sound weird.

    Episode 148.5 — 10/4/13 TWO CHARTED 87

Yeah, to be fair people have been saying 'SNL hasn't been relevant since [insert favorite decade here]' all the way back to the late 70s. I think it goes in and out, and when they get just the right combination of people it can be great. Right now they have some really solid people like Jay Pharoah, Kate McKinnon, Taran Killam, Cecily Strong, etc., it's just about how they use them. They wasted Jay Pharoah for a long time, but I think they're finally realizing was a goldmine he really is.

    Bad Halloween Movies!

Killer Klowns is a comedy spoof, though. It's very deliberately silly and OTT.
