    Episode 144 — Voice Rolls

I suspect the Claudia that Grey was referring to is Claudia Black (she wasn't on Star Trek but she was on Stargate and Farscape and a number of other science-fiction shows). I hope not, since I've always been a big fan of hers, but it lines up.

    Episode 70.5 — Minisode 70.5

Oh man, I don't know how I feel about that. In Living Color was such a product of the time. It could be good if Keenan Ivory was involved, but if it's one of his unfunny siblings (*cough* Shawn or Marlon *cough*) then no way.

    Episode 70.5 — Minisode 70.5

That's why I liked the Croc Dundee episode. It wasn't so much the movie itself (which was mostly boring) but the behind-the-scenes discussion on how they writers were treated, why they thought certain scenes would be funny, etc.
  4. She's only 42 now, so she was probably closer to 29ish when she did Felicity, but you're right. This is a recent picture of her, and she honestly looks almost exactly the same as she did then.

    The World's End

I'm not even a video game type and I freakin' loved this movie. I think the relationship themes (the idea that we're all Unreliable Narrators when it comes to our own history) spoke to me more than anything else.

    The World's End

Yup, I'm one of those folks that immediately snatched it up on Bluray. It is beautiful.

    Episode 70.5 — Minisode 70.5

I have DirecTV and they are doing a free preview of FXX right now (channel 619). Since it's satellite I'd think that would be true for everywhere, though I could be wrong. They're advertising it as part of their Xtra package.

    Episode 70.5 — Minisode 70.5

See, I'd be on the opposite side of that. Sucker Punch and Burlesque are far less interesting to me because they were so universally mocked & accepted as terrible by critics and audiences alike. They are mainstream bad. Even as legendary as The Room might be, the vast majority of people will still have never heard of it. And really, it's a rarity in that every time you watch it you seem to find even more horrible things. But that's why I think it's good they mix things up between old & new, because obviously everyone looks for something different in the movie choices.

    The World's End

Yeah, I imagine it would be similar to Scott Pilgrim. IIRC, they didn't really emphasize Wright in the marketing. Though Scott Pilgrim was itself a niche thing, too. But I think they played up Michael Cera as the draw there. But the Marvel movies have never really focused on the directors.

Wait, you only like 50% of the Secret of Nimh?

    The World's End

Seven Hail Peggs & six Our Father Frosts before bedtime and you'll be forgiven.

    The World's End

But it did make for a great gag.

    The World's End

Saw it, loved it. I suspect the ending may prove controversial for some but it worked for me.

    The Jackal (1997)

See, I'd have pegged those awful Die Hard sequels as examples of him just cashing a check. But he's still been doing cool stuff here and there. He was great in both Looper and Moonrise Kingdom, for example. You can tell he still cares in those projects. And honestly, as much as I like Kevin Smith, I was put off by his entire attitude after Cop Out. The movie was a turd, and he should have just owned it and moved on (it's not like he wrote it, after all). His whining about the critical response and subsequent stories about Bruce Willis just came off like sour grapes.

    The Jackal (1997)

Oh, I'm not saying it ended Poitier's career. No matter how bad a movie was it couldn't do that to Sydney freakin' Poitier. I was just saying that was his final Silver Screen appearance. Those credits on IMDB are narrations on documentaries and a made-for-TV movie.

    Getaway (2013)

it's definitely him in the trailers

    Getaway (2013)

The concept for this didn't seem too crazy (just another spin on the old 'We have your family so you have to do all the crazy crap we say' trope), but there were two factors in the trailer that made me think it might just qualify as next level bonkers - 1)Selena Gomez and 2)Jon Voight doing Random Foreign Accent #27.

    The Running Man (1987)

Which Mick Fleetwood was also in!
  19. Event Horizon had the potential to be a much more interesting movie than it actually was. There's a nugget of a good idea there (haunted house in space). The problem is Paul WS Anderson is a terrible director and a terrible writer. Apparently, there is an even worse Director's Cut out there, which is basically just the gore dialed up to 11.

    The Running Man (1987)

Plus, random appearance by Mick Fleetwood sort of playing himself!

    Red Sonja (1985)

There are lots of wacky things about this movie, but one of the wackier things is that the 'beef' between Red Sonja and Sandahl Bergman's character seems to have sprung out of the fact that Sonja rejected her sexual advances.

    FINAL DESTINATION 5

Yeah, I seem to remember this coming up before. It's still pretty bad, though. The fact that it's a prequel did kind of blow my mind. I mean, was anyone really clamoring for a FD prequel?

    FINAL DESTINATION 5

I finally saw this today. These movies are just straight-up comedies now.
