Episode 66 — Demolition Man: LIVE!
seanotron replied to JulyDiaz's topic in How Did This Get Made?
I guess I've never been one for sports movies (at least bad ones), because I have literally seen none of those. -
I'm not spending my money on this, and that's coming from a person who will pay to see most anything in a theater.

The Happening - (it's never happening, but talk about it if you want)
seanotron replied to temjeito's topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
For anyone that wants to torture themselves further, this is in rotation on FX right now. Marky Mark: "I don't understaahnd why these kids ahhhnt maaaare interested in sciunce! And remembuh to say hello for to yur mutha faar me." -
I really wish Dave Holmes was on more podcasts on Earwolf, he's a really great guest.

It's interesting, reading the reviews it seems many critics are saying this movie is incredibly, crazy violent. Like Armie Hammer's brother gets his still-beating-heart ripped out and eaten violent.
-
I don't think this would work at all. It's not Crowe's strongest work, but it's really not HDTGM-worthy. It is worth noting that this movie is why we have the term Manic Pixie Dream Girl. A term originally invented to point out possibly sexist female characters with no agency of their own, which is now frequently used to dismiss any quirky female character. Yay progress!

That is 100% nightmare fuel if ever there was such a thing.

Yet he still looked better than Patrick Swayze. The image of Swayze in drag will haunt me forever.

I'm a little iffy on this one as well. It just seems *too* stupid, if there is such a thing. But hey, if it makes for a fun episode I'm on board.

It's definitely subjective, I'm not saying people can't dislike her or her acting. I just notice that criticisms of her tend to be especially vicious. I'm not saying you were, you plainly stated she's not your cup of tea. I guess I'm speaking to a broader trend I've noticed when people talk about her. I'm kind of entertained by the things people don't like her for, like her awkward interview persona or her Bitchy Resting Face.

She's great, and it's a shame that she was given such grief over her incredibly reasonable objections to this movie and Johnny Depp playing Tonto.
-
Tonto in the TV series was Jay Silverheels, an actual First Nations actor. Somehow in 2013, we've managed to be less racially sensitive than a 1950s TV show. Good grief.
-
I'm sure there were a lot of influences at play. I dunno, I feel like people really like to dump on K-Stew and she's really not nearly as bad as she's made out to be.
-
I really don't mind Kristen Stewart. And I didn't think she did a bad job here. Though I agree that the feminist message was definitely mixed and/or confused in its execution. That stag scene in the enchanted forest was worth the ticket, though. That was like the Disney cartoon come to life. I don't know that Rupert Sanders has a career left, but he has a great eye.

I don't know, we got that golden gif of our 3 heroes raising out of Stallone's ass from that episode. That alone was worth it.

The premise to this is actually very similar to an old Star Trek episode called 'Return of the Archons'. In the episode they visit this planet where the people are all very strict & law-abiding except for during a 12-hour period called 'Festival', where everyone goes crazy and can do whatever they want (murder, rape, etc.). It's basically the price for being peaceful 99% of the time.
-
That just means it is doing what it was intended to do.

Shannon explained that they'll pick a new 10 to vote on each time. I think Space Jam was part of the Howard the Duck group, so we're probably not going to see it pop up again (at least for a while).

KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park (1978)

Sorry, Gene Simmons just pisses me off a lot. -

I'm not a big KISS fan, but I do know this - Gene Simmons is a dick. He is the most self-aggrandizing, misogynist, obnoxious dick there ever was. So anything that comes out of his mouth needs to be taken with a tuckload of salt. -

I think Gene Simmons gives a damn about Gene Simmons and that's about it. He just hated it when any other member received more attention than he did. -
I assume you'll be jerking off the entire time.

I don't think comedies tend to work for HDTGM unless they are truly horrendous a la Stop or My Mom Will Shoot or Jingle All The Way or I Know Who Killed Me.

Episode 184 — Paula Deen: Assumed Racist?
seanotron replied to Brett Arnold's topic in Yo, Is This Racist?
What confuses me is she offered a sort of apology and cried and such, but then she ended it by saying 'I is what I is and I ain't changing'. That's like me stepping on your foot, saying I'm sorry, then saying get ready I'm going to step on your feet some more because it's part of who I am and you need to deal with it.
