I propose a double-bill of this and White House Down, since they are basically the same movie. Yes, I know White House Down isn't out yet, but I think we all know what we'll be getting there.

Come on, someone had to do it!

They definitely left the door open for a future appearance by Luthor with all the Luthorcorp logos scattered throughout, but I agree I'd rather see some of the other villains that haven't been explored on the big screen.

I got more a crab feel from those than a spider feel, esp with the little claws that come out to fight Superman.

Wow, I just got back from this and...yeah, basically everything IsaiahER said. OP, I don't want to pick on you, but I think you are taking crazy pills. The only thing I think Mantzoukas would say after seeing this is, 'This movie was FUCKING AMAZING!'

Also featuring Willie 'Bibleman' Aames!

It might seem like a really conspicuous point but it bears repeating sometimes - the most important question to ask before making a suggestion is 'How Did This Get Made?' If the answer is really obvious, then it's probably not a good candidate for the show. Why did Man of Steel get made? Because it's basically a license to print money.

The Gold Standard Interpretation didn't pop up until Baum was long dead (in an article in the 1960s), and he never discussed any such intentions in his work while he was alive.

Agreed. I've been hoping for a Toxic Avenger episode for a while.

I am pretty sure Bo Derek gets her leg bitten off by an Orca in this movie.

Not that I blame you for missing it as this movie is garbage, but they actually establish that humanity abandoned Earth 1000 years ago, not 20 years ago. They were on spaceships for a thousand years and then settled on that other planet. That's why Earth was overgrown and there were no signs of human civilization. That's also why Will's line that everything has evolved to kill humans is pure nonsense, because how can they have adapted to kill humans if there were no humans for 1000 years?

I think you're being very kind to these very awful movies. Rocky really needed no sequel. It was a very self-contained story. Each sequel took a dip in quality until you get to that fifth one that just buried the awfulness needle. Rocky Balboa is alright, but it's basically just the first movie except Rocky is old.

Valid point, though as I recall Jaden simply crosses that stream without even getting all that wet or having to swim. Though maybe I'm not remembering it correctly.

I think you have the wrong thread, no one is talking about baboons in here.
-
I so wish I could be there!

I think he can be funny when he has a solid partner to bounce off of. But he's a little one-note. Oh and Aasif is still on The Daily Show. He was on Monday night.
-
The trailers for this movie just made me sad. I kept thinking everyone involved was better than this.
-
That would make sense, though I think a simpler explanation is the writers didn't realize that baboons are one of the few primates that can swim.
-
But if that was the case the line is unnecessary. All they had to say was, 'This planet is full of predators that won't hesitate to kill you'. By making it about humans specifically they blew it because it's impossible for animals to evolve to kill things that haven't been present in their ecosystem for 1000 years.
-
And really, who could blame you?
-
The explanation for the teleportation bit is actually...well, it's one of the simpler explanations in the movie. Of all the impossible things that happen in the movie, that one is probably the least impossible. But yes, the movie is full of ridiculous CGI.

And what's with all those cases of amnesia being caused by coconuts to the head?
-
That's likely. I just find it hard to believe that Bill Murray really thought he was working with Joel Coen on a Garfield movie. I think it's more likely he's having a bit of fun with the interviewer.
