  1. A QOD Twitter follower asks, "Seeing as how our ancestors have lived off the land for thousands of years, why is there severe hunger in parts of the world today?" James insists that the problem is caused by humans having been dominated by another species on the planet. Stephen is hesitant to accept James' answer, but eventually finds compelling evidence to bolster his theory. Our hosts also tackle the political costs of trying to fight famine, and come up with solutions involving cryptocurrencies, steak-like substances, and tax amnesty to fight corruption.
  2. With the filming of the Denzel Washington directed Fences being complete, we ask the question, "Who played Troy Maxson better on Broadway? Denzel or James Earl Jones?" Plus, Kamau and Kevin discuss Grey's Anatomy actor and activist Jesse Williams' powerful BET awards speech. Check out the clip of Denzel and James Earl Jones in Fences here:
  3. Mark and Pete are live from the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC! Pete tells us why all libraries are abominations. Mark explains why camels are Jewish horses. Jimmy Williams (MSNBC, DecodeDC) reminisces about being a staff ass for Dick Durbin. Nancy Pelosi (Jessica McKenna) shares her Georgia O'Keefe sex dreams. And Paul Ryan (Ben Kissel) has not slept in weeks. It's all happening in our nation's capital!
  4. She's just 25, but her mother has early onset Alzheimers. This is a call about remembering those who can no longer remember themselves.
  5. Paul F. Tompkins welcomes those near and far to this week’s episode of Spontaneanation! This week, Paul’s special returning guest is Busy Philipps of HBO's Vice Principals! They chat about whether or not her child self would like her adult self, what it truly means to be a latchkey kid, and the impact of milk commercial monologues on her childhood. Paul is then joined by Jordan Black, Mandell Maughan, and Jean Villepique to improvise a story set at Hamilton on Broadway. And as always, Eban (only the best) Schletter scores it all on piano! 6. Brett Gelman (Dinner in America with Brett Gelman) and Andrew talk about the Washington Redskins mascot. Make sure to leave us a message about anything you think is racist at (323) 389-RACE.
  7. Are you a desperate 22-year-old girl with no money, no job prospects, and no idea where to go in life? Our hosts James and Stephen obviously don't fit into that demographic, but they're fielding a question asked by such a person. On today's episode, the guys talk about business concepts and ideas an entrepreneurial young person could develop in lieu of having a 9-5 job, or ones that could be developed while working at one.
  8. Join Danielle and Casey as they chase the high of Snapchat, discuss the welcome return of Orange County, the grand finale of Southern Charm and the multiple bleeding vageen's on New York.

  12. Fruit may be a significant food group on the USDA's recommended nutrition chart, but is it actually healthy? Many popular diets currently say that the amount of fructose and glucose contained in fruit make it akin to eating white bread, though others claim that it's the only thing one should eat before noon. Today, our hosts sift through the data they've learned from researchers studying the topic, and look to see if there's a single conclusion to be found.
  13. Stand-up comedian Cody Metzger (My Brother's House, Dirty 30) has goals to be a cool mom. She joins Deanna & Emily to dream about blowjob bibs, talk about why rice cakes should get more love, and the meme war between herself and comedian Jak Knight.

  17. Chap and Joyanna Baines (Don Fanelli and Laura Willcox) are the stars of HBTV's Fixher Upper. Chap and Joyanna love to fix up homes, renovate new homes, and give the women who live there advice on how to fix the upper part of their bodies. Later, Traci Reardon arrives to answer Twitter questions about Chap and Joyanna's failing marriage in another edition of "Help Me, Rhonda."
  18. Soccer is by far the most popular sport worldwide, but it has struggled to gain a foothold in the American media market for decades. Stephen has become a recent convert to soccer fandom, even co-hosting a soccer podcast with his son, but James has not been swayed. Today, our decidedly non-jock hosts will look into the reasons why soccer ranks so low in American favorability, despite the fact that game attendance figures in the United States are surprisingly high.
  19. In a way, science-fiction has not only predicted the future but created it as well. The works of Jules Verne inspired the first submarines and Star Trek's communicators and tablets clearly inspired the smart phones and computers and voice-activated assistants we use today. But there's still so much we don't have yet. Space colonies, faster-than-light travel, teleportation, genetic manipulation -- there's so much cool stuff we see in movies and TV that still seem decades if not centuries away. Sex bots! There are sex bots in everything, but look around-- there are no sex bots to be found. A real tragedy. So this week we're going to play pretend and talk about the tropes and imagery from sci-fi that we wish were a reality. Jack O'Brien and co-host Adam Tod Brown are joined by Cracked's Tom Reimann and Josh Sargent as well as comedians David Huntsberger, Caitlin Gill and Lizzy Cooperman to talk robots, generation ships, babies with grasshopper legs and more in this exploration of the sci-fi stuff we really want but probably can't have. Star of the hit TV show Nathan For You & Canada expert Nathan Fielder joins Paul, June, and Jason to discuss a movie with no plot simply known as Gooby. Why do people see Gooby as a man in a costume and others see him as a monster? How was this released in 2009? What lead to Eugene Levy being in this movie? Tune in as they discuss the possibility of Gooby secretly being a child molester and much more!
