Episode 1424 - "Weird Al" Yankovic
HeySwanSong replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Never Not Funny: The Jimmy Pardo Podcast
The transition from Al's polka medley into the break music actually sounded great, good job Belknap. -

Was PFT doing a Winnie the Pooh voice for his reverend character, or was it some other reference I didn't pick up on? -
Episode 13 — No Line on the Horizon
HeySwanSong replied to JulyDiaz's topic in U Talkin' Talking Heads 2 My Talking Head
Back when this album came out, U2 actually had a performance at my college for a Good Morning America taping. It was a live taping for the 7 am (or whatever) show, so everyone just stayed up all night drinking and the piled on to the lawn, in a somewhat zombie-like state but ready to rock. Then they started playing "Boots" and everyone was just kind a like uhh.... It was still a fun experience though. -
True Detective Season 2 really should be Scott and Jason trying to decipher the devilish connections between all of Daly's characters.

On the Andy Daly episode (the next one) he says that he went to see Journey in college when Randy Jackson was in the band. According to wikipedia, Jackson was only in the band in 1986 and 87, so...

Ironically, Bess' Smaug impression sounded kinda like Cumberbatch's attempt at a southern accent in 12 Years A Slave.

I just realized engineer Cody chose the word "butter" for the freestyle rap b/c he was probably drinking his butter coffee.

I really enjoyed the vibe of this episode, "suffra-get city" was probably the biggest laugh for me. I'll be honest I did not get the Mcdlt (?) reference either, some kind of Mcdonalds item?

I see what you're saying but I think it was the right call in this case. If he had done more of his normal thing a lot of listeners would have probably gotten mad at him for steamrolling. Hopefully he comes on again, maybe as a character.

If anyone has one minute and 7 seconds they would like to waste, I did a cover version of some of Howard's recent freestyles: https://soundcloud.com/drewwilz/wie-wies-freestyle-re-style

People are way too precious about this podcast in general. I love it and never miss an episode, but it seem to me that some people think every one should be an instant classic. Holmes is not my favorite comic around (and his steamrolling style certainly doesn't gel great with this format) but I'm still glad he was on the show as he is a big name in the community currently and I like that Scott gives everyone a shot to see how it goes.

KNOW WHAT I'M TALMKIN ABOUT?

At first I was hesitant to jump into this ep with no Wie Wie, but now that I've listened I feel like a fool for that. Armen was ching chong charmingly awkward.

Joseph Sargent directed the original Street Fighter in 1959, too bad June was not there to ask him what that is.

Dame Sir ALW doesn't get the first WYR question in? Unprecedented!

Episode 230 — Something for Everything
HeySwanSong replied to Brett Arnold's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
I have to say, this entire podcast was reminiscent of Craster's Keep. -
1 hour 4 minutes and 30 seconds into the podcast, Scott says "my wife" without saying "mah wiife!" Come on Scott I expect better...

Scott actually does act "Paterno" toward Marissa, because he sits by and does nothing even though he knows Listler is abusing her.

Rearden is so great even Wompler can't stay mad at her for long. That plugs theme was amazing too. -
Feast for Crows references had me rolling.

Chupaca-Bro!

Howard did tell that Missy Elliott story on a previous episode, but Ku is kind of right too cuz they brought it up again in a later ep and he didn't finish it.
