  1. I'm thinking Kroll would play him, but maybe only for a quick "call in"

    Β

The real Lin would be so much better (with no disrespect to Kroll, who I also love!). Lin is funny on his own and I can only imagine the showtune singing that would occur if he was on with Ben Schwartz and Scott...

  2. I cannot get enough of this episode (and all Andy Daly episodes). I am listening to it now for probably the fourth time, because ep206 ended with a cover of Goodnight Sweetheart and it immediately reminded me of Hot Dog.

    Β

The greatest thing on this listen is around 37mins, Scott is starting to investigate Hot Dog's depression, and is laughing all the way through it. ("You're talking a lot about what happens after you die. You seem depressed!") Then Hot Dog says everything is looking up for him because he has his Sha Na Na audition next week... "Now if that doesn't go so good..." And Scott completely loses it.

  3. 3. Nancy is a bit too convincing as a person with legitimate mental problems that I feel like an invitation to laugh at her is kind of shitty. This dovetails with the anti-comedy thing as well, but unlike some "anti-comedy" characters who are so amazingly over the top it’s breathtaking, Nancy just feels like a pathetic, poor, mentally ill person.

I think you hit the nail on the head with your post. For me, it has nothing to do with the sex of the comedian or character and nothing to do with her voice. Part of the reason that Wompler and Ms. Lisler are such great characters is that we get a new part of their story every time they're on the show. Both of Nancy's appearances were basically identical if I remember right.

    Β

I can definitely see my (female) cousin with downs syndrome in the setup/delivery of Nancy's jokes and the "I'm good at that, I can do that" comments. The character's ... peculiarities may be too real. Without the usual character-wackiness it kinda feels wrong. Although I will admit I've laughed at quite a few things that Nancy has said.

  4. Has James Adomian ever played Orson Welles on CBB before? I feel like he might have, but I can't find anything. Good lord he is hilarious.

    Β

"We know a little place in Lawrenceville, NJ with seven washing machines on the front porch... this is shit!"

    Β

Throwing "We know a little place..." at the beginning of everything kills me in the same way "I was working in the lab..." does in the Suicide House episodes.

  5. This is the greatest episode of CBB to date. I have listened to the description of Jesus Christ Superstar more times than I can count:

    Β

"Jesus resurrects everyone from the plane crash! Smash cut to: It's twenty years later! The Skynet corporation has taken over all of Judea!"
