Episode 134 - Can't Stop the Music: LIVE!
DanEngler replied to JulyDiaz's topic in How Did This Get Made?
Yes, in countless threads for episodes of Comedy Bang Bang that featured musical guests, and countless threads for episodes of improv4humans that featured musical guests. And do you know what happened as a result of all that "fan backlash"? Scott and Besser continued booking musical guests, and their detractors either stopped listening to the show or decided their energy was better spent elsewhere. This Cameronado will dissipate soon enough. What is my mission "job", exactly? I am a glorified janitor who spends too many hours a day on this site, deleting torrents of spam from Korean robots and merging Bad Movie Recommendation threads. Occasionally, I must tolerate a two-week-long spate of people spewing hate about a particular guest, only removing one or two comments that stray into outright personal attacks. And for this, I am paid the staggering sum of $0. -

Episode 56 - Los Feliz, Karen's House, 1997
DanEngler replied to JulyDiaz's topic in SPONTANEANATION with Paul F. Tompkins
Via podcasts, I probably know more about Los Angeles geography and cultural institutions than I do about Seattle, where I live. Also, I appreciate the precarious tightrope Paul must walk to avoid turning Peter Gabriel into Cake Boss/Chris Tallman must walk to avoid turning every character into Nick Nolte. -

Exactly. The difference between me and those of you slinging shit is: I readily acknowledge that my opinion is insignificant, and I do not represent some sort of beleaguered silent majority. I don't presume to tell professional comedians how to be funny. I don't couch my opinion in invective about their guests/friends being "grating" "unfunny hags" whose very existence is "torture". Bzzzzt, wrong. -

"Rest assured that my client, a bodyguard who has made a career of interjecting himself into the lives of celebrities (including the Kardashians), and whose default IMDb photo is a picture of him with Bruce Jenner from the ESPYs, is in no way changing his name to draw attention to himself." -

I am confident that, rather than relying upon decades of performing experience to tell them how to read an audience, and rather than continuing to book a guest who is both a professional comedian and their friend, Paul and Jason will heed the advice of a tiny contingent of anonymous Internet users whose first interaction with them is to badmouth said friend. According to Soundcloud, 187,000 people have listened to this episode so far. Amongst all social media, maybe 100 people have complained to them about Cameron. You are statistically insignificant.- 560 replies

The Shrimps take on the Ba Dunka Dunks at Lake St. Gym. Matt Gourley and Mark McConville call the action, Jensen Karp has the Sock Report.

Matt uttered the phrase "dandy longlegs", apparently unaware of the fact that it's the name of the rival team/podcast Paul F. Tompkins is sponsoring next season.- 5 replies

Scott Aukerman Talks Comedy Bang! Bang! Past, Present, and Future. I've heard of B movies, but CBB movies!?

He was calling Neapolitan ice cream "Van(illa)-Choc(olate)-Straw(berry)".

Season 3: Game 2 - Pistol Shrimps 4/12/16
DanEngler replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Pistol Shrimps Radio
For anyone who missed it, Deadline has the trailer for the Pistol Shrimps documentary. Edit: And Seeso acquired worldwide distribution rights for the doc before its premiere. -
The fact that DC selected that image as the thumbnail for the trailer tells me everything I need to know about the movie and DC in general. This. A thousand times this. Honestly, I'm having trouble conjuring up excitement for this or any of Marvel's other Phase III films. After eight years, the origin story formula is so overdone, my only hope is that Black Panther (with a black hero and black writers and a black director) delivers a radically different perspective, Ã la Jessica Jones.

I think he's on vacation. He was tweeting photos at Howard last week from a location with snow on the ground.

Paul's British accent in this episode reminded me of Alan Ford, which led me to this astonishingly relevant clip from The Armando Iannucci Shows. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAGlUUAmjxk -

The third comment in this thread, and the one that began this entire shitshow, attacked Cameron's "hot shehorned message comedy garbage that appeals to Buzzfeed demographics" and "far fetched monologues on a VERY IMPORTANT ISSUE". What exactly do you think these phrases refer to?

I'm ambivalent about a Boba Fett movie, but I want the "young Han Solo" film to be a light-hearted romp about a group of smugglers on a cross-galaxy race to pick up a lucrative spice shipment, with an ensemble cast including humans, aliens, droids, and Burt Reynolds. The Cannonball Kessel Run: A Star Wars Story, coming December 2018.

Nice.

Confession: Every time Scott mentions Bajillion Dollar Propertie$, I expect him to pronounce it like " " and then sing "Wipeout" in its entirety.

I said "Tay Loranne" but "Taylo Ranne" is, in hindsight, the obvious better choice.

Haven't you noticed that the Hollywood Handbook forum is a ghost town lately? HH is bleeding so many listeners that Sean and Hayes had to call in the Wolf Den to turn things around. Hayes should have moved on to Big Apple Bible when he had the chance.
