Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens
DanEngler replied to jarrycanada's topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
George Lucas has clearly demonstrated himself to be a poor steward of the Star Wars universe. Hence, his divesting himself of the franchise and the company that spawned it. I predict that there will be no Yoda in these films. The entire point is that Luke Skywalker will be this generation's Yoda, and the trio from the original trilogy will be tertiary characters that entrust the Force (read: the future of the franchise) to John Boyega's and Daisy Ridley's characters. They're absent from the teaser trailer because they no longer represent the future of the series. -

I'd be willing to forgo Case Closed if it's replaced with recordings of the weird therapy sessions Eric is having with Brett.- 80 replies

Episode 324 — Golden Duchess Cruise Lines

CORRECTIONS & OMISSIONS: Scott referred to Cody as "Donk", but "Donk" was actually Engineer Cody Brett from the CBB 5th Anniversary Show. -
Episode 324 — Golden Duchess Cruise Lines
DanEngler replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
Actual real quotes I have removed from the Earwolf forums include: "Should I feel bad for wanting to fuck [female guest]??" "[female guest] has nice gazongas. C+ ep." "HOLY JUGGS" "wow would you check out the schnozz on that broad" and much more, but that would require more than five clicks into the moderation log. While the near-constant "cute" remarks may seem benign in the abstract, they are but the tip of an iceberg that most of you never see. We take a very light approach to moderation in this community—you'll notice that shitty and banal discussions are typically left alone unless they stray into personal attacks—but nothing could be less relevant to the discussion of an audio podcast than the physical appearance of the guests. I will continue to delete gross male gaze-y remarks until the people making them either learn to respect the performers or need to be shown the door. If you disagree with that policy, I suggest filing a formal grievance with my supervisor.- 110 replies

Episode 324 — Golden Duchess Cruise Lines
DanEngler replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
When I catch these sorts of remarks shortly after they are made (i.e. before anyone else has responded), I will nuke them without a second thought. After repeated instances, the people making said remarks will find themselves permanently muzzled. Bottom line: No one cares how your dick feels about a guest's physical appearance.- 110 replies

Easy Street Records, a beloved Seattle institution, used to hand-paint the covers of new releases on their exterior walls. Of course, they also closed up shop in 2013, so reality = YES, economical = PROBABLY NOT.

Pardcast-a-thon 2014
DanEngler replied to DanEngler's topic in Never Not Funny: The Jimmy Pardo Podcast
I kept track of all the guests in this post. Paul Gilmartin did a funny bit about being a Y2K survivor, Dave Holmes is a joy wherever he appears, and Mike Schmidt was the third co-host of Never Not Funny in the early years, so he had some interesting Jimmy stories. (I didn't start listening to NNF until it joined Earwolf, so this was a revelation.) -

I was really hoping PFT's climbing-over-the-table gag would become A Thing™ for subsequent guests, and someone would Chris Farley it toward the end of the evening. -

Episode 323 — Pie Quiz with Tears for Fears
DanEngler replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
I can't believe Scott landed an interview with the Glimmer Twins themselves, Tears for Fears! They were one of my favorite bands growing up. It's a shame that we didn't get to hear from all four original members: Roland Organball Z, Curt's Myth, Layne Staley, and Many Elviras This is nevertheless an incredible episode! -
Now I kinda want to make a hidden camera webseries where I order ridiculously expensive spirits with shitty mixers, just to see the barman's reaction. "Johnnie Walker Blue & Red Bull, please."

I assume Paul found it strange because, to the average American, "scotch" implies smoky/peaty/weird/imported/expensive, whereas "whiskey" is more or less synonymous with Jack Daniels: sweet, mostly corn-based, inoffensive. Jack & Coke is very well-known here.
