    The Spirit (2008)

This movie was so boring to me I don't even want to hear a HDTGM episode about it. I don't think it was bad in a funny or interesting or bonkers way, it was just incredibly dull.

    North (1994)

I only have a vague memory of seeing this movie as a kid and liking it. I need to rewatch it again as an adult.
  3. Maybe he meant "a thousand years from now" hyperbolicly? I don't know. I suppose it's just as likely this movie broke his mind. I didn't have the mental fortitude to finish it myself.
  4. I'm also a huge MST3K fan, and a lover of horrible movies. Watching shitty films with friends has been a favorite passtime for me for years. I will say though that HDTGM has given me more consistent fodder to do this.

    Glitter

I guess I watched a different movie because I chuckled throughout Glitter. Terrible is exactly how I'd describe Mariah's acting in this. HDTGM did Burlesque, and I think this is just as bad.

    Sleepwalkers (1992)

This movie legit scared me when I was a kid.
  7. He said "Japan" in practically all the jokes, and all the punchlines to the jokes had to do with the fact that there was a tsunami in Japan, a tsunami that ruined and ended lives. How isn't that specific enough? Sure he could've changed them to be about New Orleans, but what does that prove other than that he could've mocked a similar tragedy? Whether or not they're funny based on being jokes? I don't understand what you mean. It's not like there was another level to the jokes to evaluate, a flooded Japan was the butt of every single one of the jokes. If I was the big boss at Aflac I would've fired him too honestly. But my whole point was that being offensive or not to me has nothing to do with the subject matter or timing, and everything to do with what you're trying to say about the subject matter. Matt Besser makes very salient points that need to be considered with his comedy. Gottfried was just exploiting other peoples suffering for some one liners, and I believe he has every right to do that, but it doesn't make him not an asshole.
  8. Great Case Closed. In my mind what makes comedy offensive or not is the perspective not the subject matter or when it was said. For instance, when Gilbert Gottfried was making jokes about the tsunami in Japan, I thought that was fucked up, because he was making fun of the victims, and I just don't see the merit or humor of sitting at home making light of a tragedy that didn't affect you. To me that's just callous, and I don't think the jokes are any funnier now that time has passed because the perspective of the jokes is belittling the pain, hardship and death that actual people have experienced. It's not the topic I find distatesful, but what he's saying about the topic. Matt Besser on the other hand, what you do is great, because you're making comedy that stands up for the victims and goes after the scum, and I think it's important to be able to do that. And like you say it makes no sense to wait til the topic is no longer hot and people don't care anymore. I don't know why people want to exclude comedians from addressing a topic when EVERYONE else is free to talk about it ad nauseam. I always feel like people who think comedy shouldn't tackle a subject have respect for comedy or any idea of how important comedy can be. Matt Besser you're awesome, keep up the good work. You don't need that new year's resolution because this has been the best podcast in the universe since the first episode.

    The Machine Girl

Or Funky Forest, which has some of the most bizarre shit I've ever seen in my life, for example: The whole movie is on youtube too, but I don't know, it's 2 and a half hours of crazy, it might be too much.
  14. -Just want to reiterate the scene about Lauren Lapkus being confronted about bringing ass eating into scenes. Episode 44, starts at about 1:03:30 -Pretty much any of the sketches from episode 51, Tim Meadows was great -Bonus episode 40.5 with Seth Morris, Adam Pally, and Gil Ozeri about aggressive pet love.

    The Machine Girl

By American standards this is definitely a really crazy movie. But in Japan there's a whole genre of films like this. Tokyo Gore Police, Robo Geisha, and Vampire Girl vs Frankenstein Girl, being some of the most popular ones along with Machine Girl.

    Hulk (2003)

Oh man... I'm in the extreme minority of people who kinda liked it, haha. There's a lot wrong with it, but it had it's moments for me. I would not mind them doing this movie though.

    Episode 47.5 — Minisode 47.5

I just watched this last night. What in the whole wide world of fuck did I just watch? Why in that last sequence is she hissing like some sort of feral beast??? One of my favorite parts, Mike covers Angela's eyes "Guess who!" "Ricky?" "No" "Ummm, Burt Reynolds?" "You're getting warmer!" uhhh.... what? How is Burt Reynolds warmer? If anything Ricky was a much closer guess. What does this kid think he has in common with Burt Reynolds? Also, in what world would young relatively pretty Meg want to go on a date with old as fuck Mel? That guy had a face like a Dick Tracy villain. What on earth would be appealing about him to a young woman?? One more thing, what is up with every single other thing that happened in this movie??

Is there a deadline for submissions?
  19. If I learned anything from this episode it's that Jason Mantzoukas is NOT a scientist.
  20. "A great silence fell over the nation" that made me laugh unreasonably loud. Also Scott's "You go back to Africa." cracked me up. Lauren was great, I enjoyed that character. Gillian was charming as always. Best wishes to her and Gary. Well... best wishes to just her I guess since Gary is likely dead by now.

    Episode 46.5 — Minisode 46.5

Just finished watching Super Mario Brothers. I'd like to discourage anyone who is thinking of watching it, it's not one of those movies that's shitty in a fun hilarious kind of way, it's just shitty in a this is boring and makes no sense kind of way. It's crazy how little this movie has to do with the world it's adapting though, I would not even guess this movie had something to do with Mario if the names were changed.

How about a How Did This Get Made crossover show featuring Paul Scheer, June Dian Rapheal, and Jason Mantzoukas? There's already a lot of chemistry there, and also you could maybe even the inspiration for the improv could be all about shitty movies.

  24. Is that what you took from that quote? Haha.
  25. The problem with your precious "Aristotelian logic" is that it useless when trying to analyze complex social issues because it completely ignores context. That's why racists are so fond of that form of reasoning, it treats history as if it's irrelevant and dismisses any and all sociological impact. Your so-called "axioms" are also a pile of rubbish. 1. Racism is being unfavorable to another race? Right off the bat you have no idea what you're talking about, you can't even define racism properly. 2. According to you, challenging a person of privilege's actions is "treating them unfavorably"? That's very convenient for racists! 3. There goes "unfavorable" again. I don't understand how it favors white people to say the n-word, or how anything of substance is being taken away from them at all. Furthermore, white people always have and always will be able to say WHATEVER THE FUCK THEY WANT TO SAY, if anyone else having an opinion about it is treating them "unfavorably" then... well... that's some bullshit right there. 4. Your shit's weak son. It's very cute how you thought you ended the debate about racism, 21yr old white guy from the streets, but no such luck.
