Good to have everyone back for a semi-normal episode, and glad to hear everyone is doing well. I don't think the reaction to Kurt Metzger had anything to do with not realizing that he's a comedian or thinking he's being 100% serious. Most of us understood that and still think some things he said were gross and unfunny. I'm not even saying that there's no place for a comedic persona like that, just that it's not a good fit for this podcast. All that said, I'll be more than happy to listen to an all-Kyle episode if and when solo shows happen again. On a happier note, for anyone who doesn't already know, Tig was on You Made it Weird a few weeks ago, and it was really great. She goes into more depth about some of the stuff covered here, and generally opens up more than I was expecting.

Evocateur is now available on Netflix instant. -
Episode 167.5 — Sklarbro County 72
Kickpuncher replied to Brett Arnold's topic in Sklarbro Country
If they ever do a best of County episode, either of those first two stories could easily make the cut. -
A lot like life if you really think about it.

The whole geography was confusing, though. When they first got to Africa and met Hudson and Pantoliano, they were in another country (not sure if they specifically said which one, but I think the phrase "small Central African country" was used) where some sort of conflict was taking place...I think this was the same country that Delroy Lindo and his sesame cake were in? Then they flew into Zaire/Congo. So basically, anybody could have been from anywhere. I just thought Hudson was British because it seemed like he was doing a straight English accent.
-
That was my single favorite part of the whole thing. Regarding SNL's ratings, they're actually shockingly high compared to NBC's primetime shows these days.

Beef no longer happening. Fun episode, these guys are both great.
-
I thought Hudson was just supposed to be British the whole time.
-
I thought the entire movie came across as a blatant attempt to capitalize on Jurassic Park, except that they weren't able to actually do any of the things that made Jurassic Park work.

I kind of doubt that Mira would come up with a podcast and not have it be on Nerdist. When I heard that, I just took it to mean "Very few people make money off of podcasts, and Scott is one of them."

Joe Pantoliano's character wasn't that different from PFT's Marshall.
-
Yep, I realized that when I read the closing credits a little more carefully than I had read the IMDB page. Oh well, it still made me laugh.

Wow, this movie is pretty fucking terrible. On the plus side, it's directed by Garry Marshall and there's a running joke about whether to call someone by their first name, or "Mr." and their last name. MIND BLOWN.

Episode 20 — Bob Odenkirk
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in By The Way, In Conversation with Jeff Garlin
Great episode. The only thing that was missing was a hearty GOD DAMMIT! -
Let's see if I can embed a Vine here... Nope!

Even if you think it's been bad since then (and I disagree, but whatever), I don't think you can call a show "irrelevant" when it's churned out people like Will Ferrell, Amy Poehler, Jimmy Fallon, and Kristen Wiig.

Those sum it up pretty perfectly, especially the second to last one. I saw you guys chatting on YouTube and thought about jumping in, but that shit moves way too fast to keep up with it and pay attention to the show.

Episode 101 — Coma Counting
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
Describing the difference with the word "creamy" was especially weird since that would seem to directly relate to fat content. Anyway, FANTASTIC episode. Great performances as usual from Matt, Tim, and Betsy, and the new kids were good too. -
Episode 57 — Public Access Nonsense
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in The Fogelnest Files with Jake Fogelnest
Near the beginning, Eric mentioned doing yoga and asked if his "low" energy level was OK. Allow me to answer with a resounding yes. I've seen/heard him on several talk shows and podcasts, and this was by far the most enjoyable of those appearances in my book. Really fun episode. -
This is already done! Not sure when/how it's getting released, but he talked about it quite a bit around the time of the recording.
-
One other thing from this episode - The idea of PFT as a security guard feels really, really weird.
-
I think you're thinking of Beverly D'Angelo.
-
The "You know him from" in Kulap's intro has never been less true, but Chris was pretty great. I hope Scott listened to this episode, because Chris used the phrases "my wife" and "Hollywood nights" multiple times. Howard's ghost table line was incredible.

Someone was actually named Lorenzo Music?!? If that was a character name, it would instantly go to the top of my list in a certain nearby thread.

For what it's worth, Metzger was leading the whole anti-UCB stand-up jihad (because I know he'd love to see that word used in association with him) earlier this year, so I wasn't inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt going in.
