Yeah, I thought Metzger was pretty awful too. On the plus side, he was engaged and did make a few interesting points, unlike Schumer. I know her whole act of being above actually participating in any meaningful way was a joke, but the only part of it I thought was funny was the carrot crunching. All that said, the last interview was great and Kyle's solo stuff was the most fun of the three (not to make it a competition or anything, because I enjoyed all three), and I loved the extra touches like the fake ads and the song previews.

After listening to the rap battle three times, I can say that there are THREE times that Paul laughs VERY hard within about a minute: 1) Scott announces that there will be a freestyle rap battle 2) That Cody moment 3) Rather than waiting for the next entry point in the beat, Scott blasts through "WellmynamesRappinScott" in order to catch up to the just-passed entry point

This was so much fun. I love that June has seen, or is at least aware of, the Memezoukas thread. The triplet characs were SO weird and funny, and the whole story built really well. You'd think the phrase "butthole baby" would stop being funny after the first 10 times you hear it, but apparently not. Scott cruelly teased us by building up a potential Hollywood Facts game, but then made up for it with perhaps the best "Maybe it's just me, but for me" ever.

Oh my God! Between listening on a noisy bus and Ku laughing over it, I didn't even get that it was "Paperback Writer". You and Howard are geniuses.

Good episode, glad to see that it was the usual length even though a lot of the VPN shows are closer to an hour. The laughter at the start of the 'drowning' story was amazing.

As female celebrities (and semi-celebrities) often lament, this is apparently true or nearly true for almost anyone.

It definitely was! Be sure to keep us informed about other podcasts you choose not to listen to, and why!

I don't think he was really doing that. At one point, I think he said that people incorrectly refer to him as "the science guy" on the show.
-
Well, it would have been one hell of a duo.

Is it just me, or was David throwing some shade at Rappin' Scott?
-
If they're like me, they didn't forget it, they just didn't see it because Netflix Instant seemingly doesn't want anyone to ever see the closing credits of anything.
-
Wow, I noticed Kerry Washington in the trailer they showed with this. That's a pretty impressive before-they-were-stars duo.

Funny you should ask... Howard & Kulap @whocharted 23 Sep Hey Chartists! We're recording with the hilarious @paulscheer today! Send us your questions and we'll ask them on-air!

Another omission (sort of) relating to the Christmas pageant - The main battle takes place in the same "Manhattan model", and I'm 95% sure that one shot features the model of the Twin Towers falling on a toy/murderous-non-toy tank. So that makes TWO HDTGM movies from the '90s depicting the Twin Towers falling.

No...Even if that's the only vocal aspect of those characters (and it's not), there's way more to the characterization than the voice.

It's probably used in a ton of '80s and early '90s movies, which might make it a bad example for the point I was trying to make.

I remember saying the same thing about Demolition Man, but I got a bit of a Tim Burton Batman vibe from it. I think they all share sort of similar aesthetics which seem pretty dated now; one big part of this (maybe not the Batman movies so much as the other two) is the score, which features a lot of residual '80s synths with reverb and minor keys, which has a very specific feel to it.

Didn't Neil deliberately set him up for it? I'd be happy with an episode that was nothing but Amy and Paul laughing the whole time, but this was even better. My only disappointment was that when Alan was talking about working with M. Night Shyamalan, no one made the "Thicke of the Night" connection. I hope Gilly Jacobs isn't mad at Alan for stealing her catchphrase, but if she is, at least we know he'll apologize.

From Bride Wars to spouse wars!

YES. The song at the end was amazing, doubly so since he was pronouncing "Terrell" in the way that had previously been established as incorrect. Obviously it couldn't have been planned, but it fits the Jerry character perfectly.

Whoa! I just sort of let it wash over me as gibberish, but that's pretty awesome. Ryan, the relationship (or lack thereof) between the factory and everyone involved with it and the outside world was one of the more fascinating/confusing things in the movie to me. One last thing - I'd bet my life savings that June will gush about how gorgeous Robin Wright looks in this.

All good choices. If you can listen to more, I'd go with the 'sequels' to those (just look for subsequent episodes with the same guests). It won't give you the full variety, and you might miss whatever character you end up seeing, but those are all pure greatness. I'd say his other 'main' character is Cake Boss, but he hasn't been on much lately; there was an episode with Andy Richter a few months ago that was really good.

And there's a model of the World Trade Center that gets knocked over. And Dumbledore tries to stop the Sea Swine with something that sounds amazingly similar to a spell from Harry Potter. In other words, this movie takes place in the present day, but is a better predictor of the 21st Century than any movie from that era that takes place in the future.
