Episode 82 β Apocalypse Crushes
Kickpuncher replied to admin's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
"In laser dollars, it's bleep-blorp-5000" was my favorite moment of an all-around stellar show. -
They just brought this up on the live Who Charted - Howard can't go because it's during the Have a Summah tour, but Kulap is going in his place.

Episode 37 β Bread and Butter
Kickpuncher replied to admin's topic in The Fogelnest Files with Jake Fogelnest
^ Holy crap. Fantastic episode. "Bread and Butter" and Life Alert were both classics. The Wikipedia entry (everything starting from the fact that it exists) was mind-boggling. -
She also said it would be at 7 Pacific when it appears to be at the normal time of 6. Anyway, good episode, Huskey is really funny and always comes across as an extremely nice, chill type of guy. This is two weeks in a row where the guest was someone who is a big fixture on various comedy podcasts, so I sort of assumed had already been on the show before, but apparently hadn't. It's nice to know that the well of good guests hasn't dried up just yet.

Episode 81.5 β Bonus Cut: Special Issues
Kickpuncher replied to admin's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
"That's the semi-final" killed me (and at least one of the other performers, apparently). Great addition to a great episode. -
Yeah, I watched the first part on Netflix Instant, maybe 2-3 months ago...still haven't felt compelled to pick it back up. Largely because I can't imagine how they still have 2/3 of the story to tell.
-
Good grief. He said in this minisode that the guest would be Adam Scott. Also, please don't ever have Adam Corolla on the show. Also, thank you for that sweet, sweet validation, Paul.
-
Yeah, this must have been recorded before the anniversary show, because Scott also said it was the first time we'd heard from Marissa since the Christmas Womptacular.

Episode 10 β Matthew Weiner
Kickpuncher replied to admin's topic in By The Way, In Conversation with Jeff Garlin
I've seen Weiner do some stuff before that suggests he's a funny guy, but I didn't realize that he had a comedy writing background, or that he was this funny. Another really good episode. -
Wonderful stuff as always from Jess and Lennon. Hmm...Now that Huell Howser is no longer with us, I can't help but think the Char-Dog would be an ideal candidate to replace him in Enigma Force 5.
-
I just assumed that he went on to have a wonderful day, and then came back in here and liked the post as a way of saying thank you for the encouragement to have a wonderful day.

"Umbarella is powerful tune."

Is that a reference to how Bugs Bunny would put his finger in Elmer Fudd's gun and cause it to backfire?

Episode 36 β I Didn't Get The Memo!
Kickpuncher replied to admin's topic in The Fogelnest Files with Jake Fogelnest
Yeah, I had no awareness of Gary going into this, but it didn't really matter. Fun episode and Andy was great as always. Then I come into this thread and I have absolutely no idea what most of the posts mean. -
Episode 81 β Finger Fuckers
Kickpuncher replied to admin's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
Fantastic episode, great job by all the panelists and guest. Loved the field trip(?) and mayoral debate segments. Personally, I'm not crazy about Case Closed (not really against it either, just feel it's sort of hit-or-miss), but the Cohen interview made me feel better about it in general. It would be nice if there was a way to have moderated debates, but I'm sure it will be hard to find a dedicated moderator who wouldn't naturally be on Matt's side (either in reality or in the opponent's mind). -
In case you didn't already know, he'll be hosting ANOTHER TV show and carrying on the bowling legacy more visibly in the near future as AMC is bringing his All-Star Celebrity Bowling YouTube show to TV. Also, props for your wording there (intentional or not) in reference to a sport where you put your fingers in the ball.

Good info, thanks. Personally, I was just disappointed that Jason inexplicably didn't use his catchphrase ON THE SPECTRUM when it was verifiably appropriate rather than mere speculation. I love that June refers to Queen Latifah as "Queen" as if that's her first name and Latifah is her last name. Awesome episode, Fred has been pretty great every time I've heard him on podcasts.
-
Yeah, like I said, I really enjoyed this episode, and I actually did enjoy his CBB episode overall. These are among my very favorite podcasts, so I'm just not going to skip (or drop out of) an episode of either. Part of what makes both great is that they're so much more than interviews, so even if a guest is saying something you've heard three times already, that might only be like 5% of the show. I did skip his Nerdist episode. As far as the promotional aspect goes, there are probably PR experts who would tell you otherwise, but I think they'd actually be better off spreading these things out. It's different for a book than for a TV show since you can buy/read it anytime (obviously that's true for TV now too, but networks are putting a big emphasis on getting live viewers), but with a TV season of ten episodes or whatever, it might help to remind people about the show mid-way through if they missed early episodes. It might also be smart to not over-expose them before the season even starts, which could have the opposite of the intended effect.

Episode 104 β Live from Chicago/ Music Vol. 2
Kickpuncher replied to admin's topic in Professor Blastoff
There were times when this felt like a total clusterfuck, but overall it was really fun and I think they take advantage of the live setting well. Whoever came up with the beach poop Punky is a genius. -
I am, but I liked it a lot too. I thought there was plenty of room for Maron to be himself, but it didn't mess with the usual feel of the show like his appearance on CBB did. And of course a Gumbel call makes any episode an automatic thumbs up for me.

Chelsea did make a "Sjunior High" joke which tragically went unacknowledged.
-
Nice. I was surprised that they didn't mention that Chris Hardwick is also an "owner" of one of the PBA league teams. An yes, he's a much better bowler than TO.
-
The lack of reaction to Howard saying "Tell me more, tell me more, did she put up a kite?" was CRIMINAL.
-
Bonus points if he morphs his voice into the Conan O'Brien nerd caricature voice at that part.
