This was fantastic. I love how he keeps it fairly reserved, and then occasionally busts out with something overtly extreme like the Kuroda stuff.

Another fantastic episode. Can't wait for Howard's album.

Episode 77 — There, There My Bear Bear
Kickpuncher replied to admin's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
This episode was pretty great. Loved the opening sketches - as others have said on this forum before, it's pretty much guaranteed to be funny when comedians impersonate other comedians. And "I'm not Sean Conroy, I'm Jay-Z!" reveal killed me. I'm sure Matt was joking about getting chewed out for poor numbers. I seriously doubt that happens, and if it does, it wouldn't be explicitly discussed on the show. -
Have to sit this one out with two new episodes of Parks & Rec on at the same time, but I'll definitely be checking out the archived video to see how Cox brings Racist Vin to life.

She was on again last night, and it was pretty incredible. Partial video here: http://teamcoco.com/video/tig-notaros-lessons-in-remaining-present

I hope everyone had a chance to see this (and if not, I think pretty much everything from the show ends up on their website). Great appearance by Tig (as a guest, not doing stand-up) detailing her travails since her last appearance on the show. I don't know if these are news to everyone or not, but the two big take-aways are that her surgery was a success and her prognosis is positive, and that the audio of the Largo set will be available for $5 on Louis CK's site with a portion of the proceeds going to cancer charities. So yeah, great news all around.

Didn't it sound like they recorded that on Monday? He said it was morning, so it would have been before (or even during) the explosions.

Episode 32 — Pedro and Man meet Jake

"Oh, we're doing a bit?" -
A Wompler/Listler episode in the can has already made me disappointed every time a different episode comes out, now this is only going to make it worse. Damn this podcast for being so great!

It felt like a perfect unintentional planting of seeds for a future character (double amputee general who slept with his biographer and then killed her). Pam's character was funny, but I kept expecting her to take a turn beyond the main point. I did love it when she mentioned her scenario boyfriend "Scott" a bunch of times, then she said something about getting off scot-free, and the Choctaw said "Stop saying my name!"

Jose Canseco's crazy AMA (Ask me anything)

I tend to avoid Reddit at all costs, but this is pretty amazing. -
I mean, with it being based on the second game rather than the first, it was staring them right in the face - "Street Fighter II: Operation Shadowloo".

You might be interested in a little show called "Podcrash"... But seriously, Howard was on fucking fire here.

One last point from me because I agree this has gone on long enough - I made a point of saying that I have absolutely no reason to think Jason is in any way racist, but it gets back to the "filter" point I made in my first post, and Shariq also touched on in with Paul. Even if there is no (conscious or subconscious) racist thought that goes into a statement, it's good to recognize that certain phrases can still sound racist, and either avoid using them, or retroactively acknowledge it (and if the latter is done in a comical way, great). I don't think that is being overly sensitive.

Well, yeah, that's true, so I shouldn't have assumed "not yet a scientist". I don't think they ever gave a sense of how far along she is in her studies.
-
Well, for starters, she's a science student, not yet a scientist (or "scientist"). More importantly, scientists generally study and work in one area of expertise, and that gets more narrow the further along they go. Guests get invited to appear on this show because someone (one of the hosts, presumably) thinks that they logically fit with the topic, but that may or may not actually be the case (and I wouldn't expect them to know the nuances of the guests' expertise). Depending on the specific stuff she's studying in physics, "atoms" (a typically nebulously-defined show topic) may or may not actually have a lot of overlap with it. I hope that's a satisfactory answer for a question that was important enough to warrant creating an account.

One other thing I forgot to mention - Jason had a classic "Ooh boy" as they ran down the rapidly-descending resume of the screenwriter.
-
I hate to turn this into "Yo, is This Racist?", but... Like I said, I'm not really assigning too much meaning in the big picture, but I definitely felt like the use of "regular" wouldn't be used unless he was implying that the other one was somehow irregular. If he left out the word "regular", I think everyone would just assume he was talking about two traditional, conventional looking weddings with two different races. Having not seen the movie, I don't know if there was something explicitly non-traditional (like, say, they're in bare feet on a beach in Hawaii) about the "black wedding" (I'm guessing not), but for the part I put in bold to make sense, he would have said "first a regular wedding with white people, then another regular wedding with black people," which he obviously wouldn't say.
-
Don't have much to add that hasn't already been said, but I'm glad that... - someone mentioned Jason's "black wedding"/"regular wedding" comment, because it was, to borrow a phrase straight from the source, next level bonkers. Jason has never said anything before to suggest he doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt, but that one really should have been caught in a filter in his brain before he said it. - everyone else was as delighted by June's quest to get a satisfactory definition of "street fighting" as I was. - the HDTGM supercut got some run on the main show, because it may be my favorite six minutes of any podcast this year. I agree that the movie should make sense on its own, but the podcast would have been pretty annoying if it was just an hour of four people not knowing any of the character names or what was going on, so I agree that this was a good mix. My suspicion is that, in conceiving and financing this, they thought they'd be better off mainly appealing to existing fans of the game (I don't know that they really conveyed how huge SF II was). So I was a little disappointed that Paul didn't give his usual run-down of the budget and box office haul since that would have provided some context.
-
Yeah, I had no idea until shortly before the show, I've just gotten into the habit of checking which show is on VPN each week. I think the PB Twitter account mentioned it, but I don't recall seeing it anywhere else.

Oh my God, that Bruce call.

I think Scott knows that Horatio is really bad at keeping things straight, and messes with him because he knows how funny it is. It's like Horatio is simultaneously the best and worst CBB character guest, but it's really funny either way. Jarrod was great here, and fits in the co-host/straight man role really well.
-
Definitely not, but I don't know if there would ever be a context where you'd hear an audio-only impression without specific quotes. It would probably just be the generic old-timey American voice.
-
Listening to that part, I was thinking how it's such a testament to Lewis's performance as Lincoln that an impression of his Lincoln has become the go-to impression of Lincoln. Like, if you listened to these guys doing that impression a year ago, you'd have no clue why they were doing that weird raspy voice, but now, it feels like they nailed it.

Awesome. Is he in mid-gulp there?
