Episode 31 — The Professionals
Kickpuncher replied to admin's topic in The Fogelnest Files with Jake Fogelnest
AH! I knew that sounded familiar, but when he mentioned it was from the Long Island Poison Control Board (or whatever local group it was), I figured there was no way I had ever seen it, but I somehow still didn't manage to make that connection. -
Graphics for "That's Nuts!" and the Punky Corn. This is incredible.

Episode 31 — The Professionals
Kickpuncher replied to admin's topic in The Fogelnest Files with Jake Fogelnest
Hey bro, I know this guy named Gerald who is a huge U2 fan. You should totally have him on the show. Wow, Natasha is incredibly funny and charming. As a youngster in the prime American Pie demographic, I had a huge crush on Shannon Elizabeth, but as a (semi-) mature adult male, I feel compelled to say (in the decidedly non-mature adult parlance of Heavy Metal Parking Lot) that NATASHA RULES, SHANNON SUCKS. Anyway, I don't know if I had ever heard her speak out of character before (even though that seems unlikely) or what, but I never realized she had such a heavy accent, but you can sort of tell that acting has trained her to suppress it because it drops out from time to time. I loved the Karma Chameleon phone clip, but that was one that was way better listening to the audio and leaving it up to my imagination. Jake made no mention of the time frame, so I assumed it was from the '80s, but seeing the video made it pretty clear that it was made much later for camp value, and after a bit more searching, it appears to be from 2003. Jake's hard sell here finally convinced me to put "Ladies and Gentlemen, the Fabulous Stains" in my Netflix Instant queue. -

"I didn't even get the Snapple."

For anyone on Pacific time, or who wants to watch on Hulu, etc., this was on tonight's episode. I had forgotten about it, and so the surprise made it even better. It was really funny.

Yeah, this was such a fun episode. Loved the extended Chicagoans riff.

Great episode, both for on- and off-topic material. Name That Punky is reaching new levels of hilarity, and Mother did a great job with it.

NEW NO-NO! Don't you hate it when someone brings up Woody Allen on CBB, and Scott doesn't even do his beloved "Entourage Woody Allen" character? New N-No - If you do a great impression of a famous person, the audience should get to hear that impression! Hearing the music bed under the Ting promo (and other recent promos) makes me realize that we're overdue for a freestyle rap battle. Campbell was great here, especially the list of his ex-girlfriend's grievances.

Episode 7 — Zach Galifianakis
Kickpuncher replied to admin's topic in By The Way, In Conversation with Jeff Garlin
I was running while listening to the first ~1/2 of this, and I fucking lost it at the 1-800-EAT-SHIT story. I think Zach makes me consistently laugh hard more than anyone other than maybe PFT. Maybe the "Dad farted" bumper sticker was bought by a whimsical adult who drives their elderly father around. I don't know if it was intentional or not (I'm guessing it was), but it was kind of amazing that the Audacity promo where Jeff gets a phone call in the middle was cut into the show right when Jeff was talking about not liking to be reachable by cell phone at all times. -

Except that it was the very first thing Paul said on the show.

This was obviously a change of pace from the typical episode, but I really liked how it skewed toward a more in-depth interview style (with plenty of room for the usual monkeyshines), and David picked up on the format/vibe really well despite seemingly not being familiar with the show. It was also really cool that Kulap got to do a show with someone she's such a big fan of.

More Wave of '80s Sax! Really good episode. I've heard DC on a few podcasts lately and he's always really funny and cool. Looking forward to Tig's book.

I thought the episode was fun, but count me in the camp that thought they were way too hard on the movie, or just didn't approach it the right way. I mean, right in the intro, Paul calls it "A Hard Day's Night without the irony". There are a lot of things that A Hard Day's Night has that Spice World doesn't, but I don't think irony is one of them. I also think that Retta (whom I love, and guessed/hoped would be the guest in the 58.5 thread) was wasted with the "I couldn't be bothered to pay attention" viewing experience, which pretty much anybody could bring to the table. I hate to sound unappreciative of a guest's time and effort, but if you've agreed to appear on podcast which is specifically about bad movies, I don't think that paying attention for 93 minutes is too much to ask.

Better yet, a Howard Kremer-inspired "product" called Ear Buds or We're Buds where you buy the ear buds and 1 out of every 100 purchasers win a day of hanging out with an Earwolf host.

That photo of Julie Klausner perfectly matches that quote.

Episode 29 — LIVE from SXSW
Kickpuncher replied to admin's topic in The Fogelnest Files with Jake Fogelnest
That's all well and good, but how do we know this is the real Jake and not @fart or @dogboner? -
When they were talking about Duck Phillips, then "a duck", I think someone mentioned the Aflac duck and I was so hoping they would do a bit about how Don Draper created the Aflac duck campaign. At least they sort of went back down that route with Geico. There's a pretty major, show-changing thing that happens at the end of S4 that they talk about here, at least indirectly, but I'm guessing there's a decent chance you've already had that spoiled unless you've tried VERY hard to avoid it.

So Howard's "dry spell" hasn't been completely dry as we've been led to believe all along? I feel so deceived!

Episode 74 — We R Michelle Shocked
Kickpuncher replied to admin's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
Is that Michelle Shocked or the Greendale Human Being mascot? -
I don't know, but I will say that I never really got the "Ginger Spice" name at the time since "ginger" didn't seem to catch on as a word for redheads in the US until much later. And to answer the question, Sporty.
