The weird thing is that Howard has been doing that forever, seemingly as nothing more than an odd vocal tic, and only now has anyone brought up any Native American association with it.

Episode 65 β Computer Strength
Kickpuncher replied to admin's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
Personally, I found Colton Dunn pronouncing "Sklars" with two syllables to be in bad taste. -
Episode 77 β Making Fun of ESL Students
Kickpuncher replied to admin's topic in Yo, Is This Racist?
I think the difference is that the worst anyone could call it would be 'xenophobic' rather than 'racist'. -
My jaw dropped when I heard that. Man, this episode. It was so great that about halfway through, I gave up on making mental notes of individual highlights that I wanted to mention here.

CBB (and all Earwolf?) VIDEO PODCASTS!! (this is actual news, not a suggestion!)
Kickpuncher replied to johnnyhaggis's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
The Sundance shows were great. Last week there were some issues but it wasn't nearly this bad. This is pretty much unwatchable. I can wait 4 days for the podcast. -

Oh, this is really weird, behind-the-scenes audio for a minute or so leading up to the start of the show. Damn, the stream is kind of choppy again. -
Episode 21 β He's a Friend
Kickpuncher replied to admin's topic in The Fogelnest Files with Jake Fogelnest
Great episode, although it would be hard to do anything else with the Sklars on board. That shower guy's song will be in me head for weeks. "And the colored girls tweet." -
Hey Jeff, I was wondering something about these Mid Roll surveys. Is it helpful for us to fill one out for every show we listen to? I heard the promo on Sklarbro County and did it, and thought it might just be something the Sklars were doing, but then they also had a promo on today's Hooch. Since none of the questions were show-specific, it seems kind of pointless to put in the same answers a half-dozen times, but maybe the point is at least in part to see if there are differences in the various shows' audiences?

Episode UCB1 β BONUS EPISODE β Ask the UCB? β The UCB Philosophy
Kickpuncher replied to admin's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
I don't have anything particularly interesting or constructive to add other than to pile on and say that this was really fascinating. -
Great episode. Like everyone else, I assumed that Kulap was dying to shout out Gore's name (and sort of thought she would just do it eventually).

This is actually one of many, many examples where wrestling tries to walk a fine line, but ultimately has never shown anywhere near the level of nuance required to do it successfully. Their argument would be that DiBiase was a bad guy, and as long as that's understood (including the announcers, i.e. the most voice of the promotion, condemning his actions), then it's OK for him to be racist to get "heat" (note that wrestling good guys are virtually never racist). Virgil eventually turned on him, and (I'm guessing, because I don't specifically remember) probably beat him in a big match. Does that mean it's OK? Again, probably not given the specific ways they handle it.

1) It was Jeff who brought up Kevin Love, not Andrew. 2) He specifically compared him to LeBron, who is absolutely better in both real life and fantasy.

Good choice, now they just need to do "2 Days in the Valley" to complete the Charlize Theron Nudity Trinity.

Ooorrr soda mom. Great episode. I loved the mix of semi-focused topical discussion and more philosophical stuff (and the usual allowance of riffing, obviously). I'm glad that America's Hottest Comic and co. are doing well enough to be flung to the far corners of the world (or at least the far media capitals of America), but I'm really looking forward to hearing the full crew in the hatch again. I don't know if the wi-fi in the NY apartment is just terrible or what, but they have more problems with Skype (delay and drop-outs) in every episode than I have in a typical year of using it regularly. Happy birthday, Dan.

I watched it live and there were some problems with the stream (nothing terrible, just the usual hitches of a less-than-perfect video stream), so it was nice to have the podcast, because the greatness of New No-Nos and a lot of BCB's stuff are kind of lost if you even miss a few seconds. The "Riders on the Storm" bit was especially funny. Now excuse me while I go put some Jellotion on my Phylicia Rashad.

Not every show is on VPN. Other than the initial Sundance shows (which were taken down for audio tweaking but I believe have been restored), there will one show (CBB this week and the next two, rotating after that) live on VPN every Thursday at 6 (Pacific time), then archived. Also, your avatar is the best.

I thought this was one of the most clear-cut "Yes, this is racist" questions ever. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but the mother must have been really concerned about it if she would actually ask that rather than just waiting to see for herself (either in person or a photo).

NEW NO-NO - When I post a comment in the wrong thread, I have to apologize for it. Sorry everyone!
-
Skips in the stream during New No-Nos are killing me. NEW NO-NO - If the live stream of a video podcast isn't of optimal quality, I get to watch the archive of that podcast later!

Episode 2 β Lena Dunham
Kickpuncher replied to admin's topic in By The Way, In Conversation with Jeff Garlin
Man, this show has been tremendous so far. If this level of quality can be kept up, it's quickly moving up pretty high on my list of favorite podcasts. -
CBB (and all Earwolf?) VIDEO PODCASTS!! (this is actual news, not a suggestion!)
Kickpuncher replied to johnnyhaggis's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
Well, #2 has basically been answered since a bonus episode has been released today and there will also be a YouTube show tonight. The Sundance shows haven't been released in audio form, so that might answer #1 (although maybe video episodes shot in studio will be treated differently than ones at a live venue). -
IT'S BEEN one hell of a week for "One Week" - first, the repeated references in this show, and now several more references and a brief performance on Suburgatory.
-
I guess there's no way of knowing unless we could ask the guy directly, but we both agree on what question PFT is answering and that he's doing so sarcastically.
-
"What am I play?" I loved that the Square Space promo went on so long that the Mancini compilation flipped over from the customary Baby Elephant Walk to the Pink Panther theme. I also loved every other thing about this episode.

I'm pretty sure that the person was asking if there would be more PFT/Howard episodes beyond this Shelby/Jaws two-parter, and Paul thought he was asking if there would be a second part, and answered sarcastically.
