Episode 54 β The Odd Life of Timothy Green
Kickpuncher replied to admin's topic in How Did This Get Made?
Great episode. I found Heidecker a lot more tolerable in the context of discussing something as a normal human rather than using an actively unfunny jerk persona as he does on CBB. The viral video with the kids was the first thing I thought of when this was announced, and I hoped they would discuss it. I'm glad that some people expressed discomfort with it, because while I do think it's really funny, I do get uncomfortable if I think about it at all. The parents laughing in the video and the general idea of recording it and putting it on YouTube is really shitty. -
Fun episode. I really like the K Bros' work, and wasn't aware of their connection to the Sklars, so I was really happy to hear they'd be on the show.

Yep. I was disappointed when David asked if Sascha knew much about the '80s, and she enthusiastically replied that it's the subject of her thesis, then there was no follow-up (aside from the funny AIDS riff). It wasn't even a particularly long episode, but I guess it's understandable given that this was apparently the back end of a double recording session. "Ooorrr womanufacturing." Side note, if anyone is interested in the time period covered in this episode (and beyond), "Oliver Stone's Untold History of the United States" is a pretty interesting series.

Actual bars, or Harris Wittels' perception of bars?

I guess it's just more extreme on both ends for Brown. Gibson may not get the same level of hate (hate vs. apathy makes no difference in terms of lack of success for movies), but he doesn't have anywhere near the support that Brown has. But for the record, I'm pretty sure that Gibson would get the Johnson-like critics if he was on Twitter and had legions of vocal young fans on Twitter.
-
Not to mention that when Gibson actually has been in the public eye, he has absolutely taken shit from the public, comedians, bloggers, etc. to the degree he deserves. His recent movies have performed poorly and his appearance at the Golden Globes was met with quite a bit of venom.
-
He never seems to talk about it in interviews. In principle, I sort of understand it, because he has his own show which is obviously closer to his heart, and I'd imagine there are people who think a comic of his style being on a network sit-com would be "selling out". The thing is, the show is extremely funny, and he's really good on it, so I don't get it. Anyway, fun show. I like Eric a lot more when he's more on the subdued side like he was here. Since the Te'o story was just breaking, I hope they revisit it on future shows now that more details are out.

CBB (and all Earwolf?) VIDEO PODCASTS!! (this is actual news, not a suggestion!)
Kickpuncher replied to johnnyhaggis's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
My impression is that the Thursday shows will just be normal studio shows, but on video. If there are sponsors for these shows, I'm sure the hosts are getting paid something. -

Yep, Paul as Scott Jeffries, plus Casey Wilson. -

Damn, I missed that. But at least I missed it in true Chartist spirit, because I was making a smoothie. This crowd is dead. -

They couldn't edit out the half hour in between the two shows? By the way, YMIW (with Chelsea Peretti) was also really good. -
Scott asked for it, so here it is! Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with.

NEW NO-NO! If someone interrupts Scott during the WYR intro or scenario, he'll repeat the entire intro and scenario again! -

Getting to actually see Scott do his thing (in a looser environment than the TV show) is pretty great. -

This is happening! Little Gary is the first guest. No costume or make-up or anything. -
When can we expect the I4H Te'o Special?
Kickpuncher replied to JacobCrites's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
Yes! I was thinking that the inevitable Sklarbro discussion would be great, but I'm sure this story will provide plenty of seeds for the fertile ground of I4H as well. Matt has gone into it quite a bit on Twitter, so I'm sure he's up for it. -
This was soooo good. As others have mentioned, the combo of Wie-Wie and PFT is always gold. I especially loved "I can't swallow this cheesesteak, I gots no spit!", Howard's inevitable "clench" discussion, and Howard sussing out Paul's non-attempt to deduce his age. Also, in reading through this thread, the awesomeness of the Fish part is overwhelming the nearly-equal awesomeness of the Phish part, so allow me to give Scott and Harris their deserved props.

Episode 19 β Beyond the Valley of the Internet Trolls
Kickpuncher replied to admin's topic in The Fogelnest Files with Jake Fogelnest
Earwolf shows comment mega-mix: The vagaries of the Internet are enough to make a guy fly private! -
I'd guess that the guys playing basketball were harmlessly having fun, and I get the oft-discussed (on this podcast) concept of the asymmetry of racism, but sometimes I feel like there's literally nothing that a caller could ever present that Andrew and his guest would deem racist against white people.

Happy to hear Zouks anytime he shows up on another podcast. The Globes talk was fun. I think the Jennifer Lawrence/Simpsons thing is true because she has a pretty big overbite

Episode 62.5 β Bonus Cut: Leave Tebow Alone: Besserβs New Yearβs Resolution
Kickpuncher replied to admin's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
This was my take on the Tebow/Strong thing as I listened to Matt describe it (I know a lot about sports in general but very little about current college football and doesn't feel strongly about Tebow either way): Regardless of what you think of him as a person or an NFL player, Tebow is one of Florida's best players ever, and is extremely popular among their fans and alumni. So a public endorsement of their coach could actually have real meaning if the coach's job is at all in jeopardy (or even if it isn't). Maybe that wasn't his purpose, but that seems like a legitimate reason to congratulate someone publicly rather than privately. -
Really? I feel like approximately half the depictions of cops in TV and movies portray them as being at least vaguely racist.

The Brandon streak continues. Nice job, guys.
