Episode 124 - Jury Deliberations (w/ Ira Glass, Little Janet Varney, Jean Villepique, Craig Cackowski)
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in SPONTANEANATION with Paul F. Tompkins
Fantastic episode. The roll call could have gone on twice as long as it did and still been the highlight. I hope that one of the Ira Glass fanatics who needs to have the concept of a comedy podcast explained to them signs up for the forum under the name ElderSpank69. -
Great ep! For anyone who's on the fence about watching it, Joe's special is really good.

Episode 126 - Jessica McKenna, Zach Reino: Hey Misters DJ
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in With Special Guest Lauren Lapkus
"Hey Jude" is my favorite Prince song. -
I really don't think they did.

Episode 035: Are You Ready to Get Back to Work, 007?
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in James Bonding
I could not possibly care less about James Bond, but I love this podcast. So glad it's back. (Also, this is probably why the diversion about the A-Team stunt spectacular was my favorite part.) -
Episode 70 - Mark Hard’s Conservative Summer Jam! (Live from Politicon ft. Donald Trump)
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Hard Nation
Yeah, there really are few mixes more awkward than sometimes-vulgar improv comedy and a non-comedy crowd. -
Episode 501 - Manchester Orchestra's Kith and Kin
Kickpuncher replied to DaltonMaltz's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
"Affable Southerner" has a very high hit rate as a character archetype. -
Episode 122 - A Gas Station Only Stopped at During Road Trips (w/ Marc Evan Jackson)
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in SPONTANEANATION with Paul F. Tompkins
Great ep! Having also grown up in Western NY, I knew that Marc was thinking of the Buffalo Jills, so I was glad that he eventually got there. -
Amazing. I don't know if it was planned or not, but I love how (almost) everyone just dove in rather than the usual gradual introduction of characs, Also, some C+ selling out with Scott asking Todd for his "prepared" segment and Zouks saying that the goat wanted to freestyle as an audition for Cal.

Episode 124 - Erin Whitehead, Stephanie Allynne, Mary Holland: Sex and the City
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in With Special Guest Lauren Lapkus
Phenomenal episode. Erin's Samantha is even better than Claudia O'Doherty's! -
Episode 121 - Karaoke Night at A Small Logging Town Tavern (w/ Scott Aukerman, Jordan Black, Hal Lublin, Jean Villepique)
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in SPONTANEANATION with Paul F. Tompkins
Accents, weird voices, and singing - pretty much a quintessential Spont. -
YES! Scott even tweeted "#ClassicJarles" on Thursday, and it still surprised me when I heard it because I thought he meant that they were recording an episode with Jarles.

I know that Flula isn't really a "character", but I've seen/heard enough of him to say that he at least uses a character-like persona. Most notably, there are certain ways he phrases things that are pretty clearly meant to be funny and not because he thinks they're correct. (And, for what it's worth, I think he's funny, and I'm saying this to give him credit because it is something creative rather than just who he is.)

Episode 63 - Rebel Without a Cause with Jack Grinnage and guest hosted by Amanda Lund and Maria Blasucci
Kickpuncher replied to DaltonMaltz's topic in I Was There Too
I was curious about that, too. My only guess is that they were banking episodes and he just didn't have time to do enough himself. Fun episode. The ones discussing older movies are really interesting. (Also, I'm just listening to this now and I realize that the Squeakquel 'news' in this week's episode was not in fact new.) -
Episode 122 - Bangarang!: Camp Wony Pony’s Weekly Wrap-Up Podcast
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in With Special Guest Lauren Lapkus
Did anyone else notice that when Lauren was starting to hint at her character's last name, she said something (which someone talked over, and then no one acknowledged) about not saying it three times? Was her name going to be Scarene Beetlejuice? -
Also, of almost all the podcasts I've ever listened to, Hey Gang feels like it costs the least (time/effort/money) to produce, and the release schedule has engendered the lowest amount of faith that someone paying for it would get anywhere near their money's worth.

Episode 298 - The Mopes Trilogy Pt. 2
Kickpuncher replied to DaltonMaltz's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
People on the street! These have been great. I love how one tiny side comment ("Tight.") can end up shaping an entire scene. -
Episode 65 - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 with Steve Agee
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in I Was There Too
The little radio play of them going to see the movie was fantastic. All the GOTG stuff was great, but the real big reveal here was Lund & Blasooch playing the on-set chipmunks in the Squeakquel. -
Episode 119 - A Forest
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in SPONTANEANATION with Paul F. Tompkins
When Paul referred to the Nike "swoop", I was like "Who are you, Kristian Bruun?!", so when he mentioned that it was an inside joke I laughed pretty hard. Great ep! -
"His attitude beats the heat" and the subsequent reaction were amazing. Really, the whole Grimace discussion. This episode was like Jennifer's opponent in a boxing match - it really hit the spot. Did anyone notice that there was at least one extra female voice and one extra male voice laughing off-mic.

Episode 118 - A Covered Wagon Fording A River (w/ Ennis Esmer, Jean Villepique, Chris Tallman, Josh Dean)
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in SPONTANEANATION with Paul F. Tompkins
I can't believe that Paul managed to out-rasp Chris given his famous Nick Nolte impression. -
That opening segment was like the "Scott's Frequently Used Words and Phrases" thread brought to life. Amazing episode, definite top 10 material.
-
Episode 120 - Mike Castle: Dreams, What Do They Means?
Kickpuncher replied to DaltonMaltz's topic in With Special Guest Lauren Lapkus
Damn, this was so good. The Traci segment was amazing. -
"The definition of irony." "Is it the definition of irony?" "Yep! Pick up a fuckin' book, Nick!" Love those relaxed, riff-heavy opening segments.
