!!! Loved the guests and the characs, great ep. Does Dave Grohl have a hand like a shovel? YOU BET YOUR ASS HE DOES!
-
OK, I sort of though the drowning story (or at least the concert spotlight part of it) was just an urban legend. At the very least, there's no way that the concert would have been the first time the guy heard the song (unless it happened before the song was ever released), which is how they were describing it here.

It feels really weird to hear a discussion from the BDSP* Era of SNL. *Before David S. Pumpkins

Episode 31 - Gary Johnson and Jill Stein Live Together (w/ Jacob Wysocki, D’Arcy Garden)
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Hard Nation
Another classic. Did anyone else think that "Gary Johnson" sounded a lot like "Dwayne Johnson"? -
Episode 83 - Under A Big Rain Storm w/ The JayVees (Little Janet Varney, Jean Villepique)
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in SPONTANEANATION with Paul F. Tompkins
So good. As much as I love Frankie Valli et al, I'm a big fan of Paul's recent habit of opening ads by singing the product name to the tune of a popular song, and then simply moving on. -
Someone who has taken improv classes can confirm (or deny!), but I think a lot of them have the students do freestyle rapping, which explains why they have freestyle rap battles on CBB and why so many guests are good at it. Great pre-Halloween ep. Claudia is so goddam funny. I really want John Dogs to be a character on her next episode.

Episode 262 - Lydia Loveless and the Mortgage Muse
Kickpuncher replied to Jack Johnson P.I.'s topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
More like "Murphy please stop making me laugh so hard because my abdomen hurts". My favorite episode in a while. -
It's good, not great. I watched the first half-dozen episodes or so and then just sort of faded out rather than actively deciding to stop watching. From the episodes I've seen, I think anyone could pick it up at any point (I.e. no serialization or anything really specific you need to know about the characters), so it's definitely worth checking out.

Episode 82 - Madison Square Garden: Live from The Detroit Improv Festival (w/ Zach Gowen, Nyima Funk, Marc Evan Jackson, Marc Warzecha)
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in SPONTANEANATION with Paul F. Tompkins
Yes! I forgot to mention that, but my nerd alarms were going off at full blast when someone brought it up and no one mentioned Futurama. -
Well, that was weird. Country 324 featured the exact same British sports segment (and the episode write-up says so) even though it was introduced as a fantasy report on stereo equipment. I guess what I'm saying is that if that fantasy report exists, I hope we get to hear it at some point.

IIIIIN-DO-CHI-NO! I hope everyone caught Nyima's (unacknowledged) aside when Marc brought up Ron Jeremy. -
I wish Scott wouldn't have tweeted #CLASSICJARLES today, because that would have been a really nice surprise. Still great! Between Jarles, Victory/Tiny/Willy, and Frank, this episode might have required the greatest combined vocal effort ever.

I've been looking forward to Takes all week since the story involving Ruth's Chris and Michigan football felt like it was tailor-made for Sklarbro, and it didn't disappoint.

Episode 100 - Mary Holland, Erin Whitehead, Stephanie Allynne: Mommy Break
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in With Special Guest Lauren Lapkus
YES! So good. The four-way uncontrollable laughing fit starting around 15:00 was incredible. -
Episode 1910 - Andy Daly
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Never Not Funny: The Jimmy Pardo Podcast
Nice! The episode with Andy where everyone goes to 7-11 to ask about the sign is my favorite NNF of all time, so this one has a lot to live up to. -
That was exactly what I was thinking. Or possibly just wanting to fuck with Scott (and succeeding!), or a combination of the two. I also feel like there's a 5% chance that the mystery friend was Horatio. Great ep, love Kyle's vibe and Horatio always brings the goods.

Episode 47 - Star Wars with Anthony Forrest
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in I Was There Too
Great ep, pretty much an ideal IWTT guest. Sadly, I know that "Starship 1" isn't legit because she never called it SPACE BEARS. -
You could have watched it Howard style and quite after a half-hour. I love how he claimed to watch everything he wanted on HByo Go in 2 hours, including The Revenant, which is significantly longer than 2 hours. For what it's worth, I also associate orange with Amazon, probably because that's the color of their music app icon (and also one of their main design colors).

Episode 29 - Debate 2016: Three Margarets (w/ Marcy Jarreau, Madeline Walter, Nicole Byer)
Kickpuncher replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Hard Nation
I just listened to the end, and heard what I can only assume is an actual political ad, which strikes me as INSANE. -

(Re. a man named Dell) "Oh my God, did he invent..." "...improvisational comedy?" -
Oh, and speaking of the Canadians discussion, I love that Scott making fun of Kristian Bruun is now an on-going thing.
-
In a perfect bit of "twat" full-circling, I believe he's originally from Regina.

Wow, you're lucky. I listen to a baseball podcast with a Canadian host who does this, and it's borderline maddening given the number of Latino players whose names he butchers.

Assuming this is related to an e-mail I just received, this is a nice surprise!
